I'm lost

What do you do after you finish the Forgotten Crossroads? I beat False Knight, the fly mother thing, found the vengeful spirit move, stag stations, that weird locked station, etc. Explored everything just to find i can't wall jump or fly to reach them. I feel im missing something obvious.

Do i gotta grind geo to buy that simple key to move on? cause i'd rather put that off as long as possible tbh.

Talk to the Elder in town any time you feel lost. He tells you the order to do things in. He'll guide you to all of the various abilities you need to unlock. Then you'll be good to explore.
