Hollow Knight 1.0.0.7 Public Beta now open!
Hi Everyone,

Firstly, thanks to all of you for playing the game and giving us your feedback. It's been fantastic after so much time to watch people play and hear about their experiences in Hallownest. If we seem quiet, it's because our little team is working full-pelt on ironing out issues with bugs and optimisation. But we do listen to and read all of your feedback!

We're working on putting out a patch that focuses on optimisation and the most critical bug fixes that will be out sometime next week. In the meantime though we thought we'd put out an interim patch that includes some of our preliminary optimisation and fixes.

For today we're releasing the patch via public beta so we can do some further testing before pushing it out to everyone. If you'd like to try out version 1.0.0.7, you can dos o by:

- Right-clicking 'Hollow Knight' in your Steam Library and selecting 'Properties'
- Click the 'Betas' tab
- Click the drop-down menu and select 'public-beta-'

The new version should then download! If this beta has no big issues we'll the push it out to everyone later tonight or tomorrow morning.

If you have any new issues arising because of the beta, go ahead and post them in this thread. That'll be the easiest way to keep tabs on everything we think.

There was an issue with Steam achievements not firing in the beta branch. This has been fixed. Update and you'll get an amended version.

Fixed Soul Vessel sometimes not displaying on first collect.
Fix for Kingdom’s Edge soft-lock.

Restored Cloth event in Dirtmouth.
Fixed issue where dying in a dream with Joni’s Blessing equipped left you with 1 HP on waking up.
Fixed Issue with Dash Slash effects sometimes disappearing.
Fixed an issue where defeating Shade and quickly exiting scene didn’t restore Soul Orb.
Dream Pin and Bench Pin fixes for map.
Fixed Collector’s spawned creatures sometimes not dealing damage.
Fixed issue with Mantis Traitor battle becoming unbeatable.

There is a bug, dunno if you guys fixed it as it is also tied to the Collector. If you die to him and then retrieve your Spirit via Jiji, the Spirit become invulnerable and non-interactable.
Killing the Collector afterwards and then going back to Dirtmouth fixes the issue.

sill got the problem.. freeze when enter some room , cause the game to not respond. :steamsad:
Still have the bug in Isma's Grove where the gate is up and no enemies spawn in the room.
Optimization has improved somewhat, I feel like the game is running smoother, but the FPS is still locked in the 20 for me. Seriously, will I need a high-end PC to play this game?
Even being a low-end PC, I can still run games like Far Cry 3, Dark Souls 2 Scholar and even Shadow of Mordor. Please fix this, because I really liked this game.

I saw some people commenting that they managed to run this game well by forcing D3D9, but for me and some other people forcing the D3D9 made things worse.
So I've been thinking ... Would not there be a way for you guys, Devs, to paste an official and improved option to run the game on D3D9?
Could be a way to fix performance issues and FPS!

@Brinstil The fix for that is done but it didn't make it into this version, sorry. Fix will definitely be in 1.0.0.8!
hey team cherry, thanks for the game. admittedly the frame freezes and everything pissed me off to no end but ive racked up so much play time regardles. ive left the game on a couple nights accidently so my steam hours is overblown, but thanks a bunch.

i know this is a patch thread, but any news on additional content? any news on challenge mode like in shovel knight where you simply fight the bosses and choose which (shovel uses 1 life but dont do that), and making it so we can revisit white palace? im so uninterested in replaying the game again just to copy the save file before white palace to replay.

the boss challenges could be like an rpg - choose a number of charm notches and use none of use whatever. im took excited to play as hornet!

I hope you guys thought beforehand about possible savegames issue with this chain: release -> beta -> back to updated release -> possible new beta -> and so on when using the same savegame.

A lot of issues tend to happen here and HK not the first game to use this public beta approach.

Movement is a bit wonky when riding elevators like the ones in City of Tears that are in motion in this beta. He'll move faster and kind of stutter around.

that happens when you go up some of them too. i cant remember which one it is but a pink/red/purpleish (memory hazy) platform makes it so you strafe super speed.

also in dirtmouth if you go down the stag platform like this : go on platform, step off, swipe, get on quickly enough your character starts to skip downwards.

What's about GOG version? No beta for GOG? There is a beta channel option.
Since I know someone will ask (even though it is not noted in the patch notes), this does not fix the controller issues noted here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/367520/discussions/0/135509472108913933/ so no reason to spend bandwidth on it if you're having those issues.
Getting a lot of random stutter/slowdowns in White Palace now. Do not recall this being so serious on old build.
I have a bug after beating second crystal guardian, i died same time when i killed him, so a door after boss to mask shard dont open for me.
