[Deepnest] Am I stuck forever ?
Hello friends.

Well I think it's game over, and I'm about to restart a new game. Here's why : http://i.imgur.com/ukpcIq3.jpg

I have no light, and there's no way I can go through the dark place without light, because I have so much money.
The only path leading me somewhere would be the tramway to the Ancient Basin, and I'm very tempted to go there but I don't know if I can at this point (what if it is a cul-de-sac ? is there any stagway at the end of the road ?). I don't know if I'm good enough to face the difficult enemies in there.

I really don't know what to do. Am I missing a shortcut somewhere that I didn't see ?

Thanks and sorry for bad english.

Start: If you're me, you fell down that damn hole in front of that preacher's temple, died a few times trying to get your shade back, before moving on to stay there, and look for a way out, as well as a bench checkpoint. If getting into that area is pretty easy, the way out must be near, right? Not for you, if you haven't touched a boss to enter this area. By now, you might've bought a map, fell down again to find a hot spring area, and rested in a bench. Now you are stuck for sure and discover that you are trapped here after some exploring and a google search or two. Start from the hot springs, to begin. If you haven't found the hot springs, there's no better way to say the phrase: kill yourself. But if you can't part with your Geo: then start in the vertically long rectangle area with four (4) areas of entry into the place, the area below the one you started from, and skip step 1.
1. Head to the area to the left, and ascend three (3) areas from there. Like the whole game, be wary of new enemies, and those husks you kill: beware them too. If you haven't already seen/killed one of them yet, Corpsecreepers will spawn from at least one of each dead husk you leave behind. And there are a lot of husks everywhere. There's also tough and mobile Deephunters, ranged attackers that take at least four (4) hits to kill. Happy hunting/Good luck!
2. If you've skipped step one, head to the area to the left. Use the bench in that area past Cloth, and proceed to the left again. Beware the area, as there are a lot of Carver Hatchers - Which are basically temporary mob spawners for Dirtcarvers. But what you really need to beware (at least to me) is that horrendously creepy noise they make when they are done spawning Dirtcarvers and try to attack you directly, that would (also to me) definitely warrant a muting of the sound setting. Fight your way through the waves of soundless enemies, and you may have obtained the Tram Pass.
3. Making your way out, you should probably rest first, judging from your initial ascent filled with all of the other hasty enemies. Descend and head towards the hot springs, and then head to the area left of there, and make way through that area as well, until you meet the tram. From there, only press the button once (1) to the first area of the Ancient Basin.
4. You may buy a map from the first section down after exiting the tram, but you wouldn't need to, especially if you don't have more than 300 Geo, as you'll spend more time grinding it back up for the future. Head to the area upwards, and fight through the right direction. You can also rush through, ignoring the sentries and such, but it's significantly a bigger gamble of your Shell points, yet, ironically, a better chance of making through with more of your Shell points than if you were to fight them one by one, unless you aren't agile enough to outrun 4 or 5 of these enemies that can easily fly over you, which I don't think many would blame you for.
5. Make your way through the top. But beware the number of spikes through the first few initial jumps, and two (2) sentries, one having a simple nail, the other having a nail-lance. Fortunately, these two are apart, and you can deal with them one at a time.
6. The first thing you'll see is a giant hulking giant, much like something to a Husk Guard, or a Moss Knight (I haven't killed one yet, so I don't know what it's called). You can easily jump over these things and attempt to fight them, acting similar in fashion to Moss Knights with the sense that they fight with a Nail and Shell shield, but are very hard to deal with and can quickly cause you wear, dealing as much damage as a Husk Guard (two (2) Shell points), so unless you're prepared, just jump over these ones, and cut your losses. Proceeding to the right, passing a few more guards, maybe killing a Gluttonous Husk on the way, and then you're introduced to the City of Tears.
7. From there, ignore the first Stagway station you see. Although there isn't much of a trap waiting there for you, with a pair (2) of Vengeflies remaining there, both the bell system and the bench is not functional. Instead, there's another Stagway a platform above. There functions a working bench and Stagway bell guarded by a 300 Geo fee. If you do not have enough Geo, the wealthy residents an area above are more than willing to let you kill them, if you can best them in the challenge of mediocre combat (and not-so mediocre sentry combat). Heading[ an area higher will get you some main story line stuff, and if you can't find your way down, a warrior spirit lays in your way. This guy's a bit difficult, and if you aren't again prepared, it'd be better to take the nearer Stagway.[/spoiler]
8. You've paid the fee, rung the bell, and got the Stag to come to you,
and because of this, you celebrated in front of or away from your keyboard for a short and brief period of time, because you are now free to go back to wherever you wanted to go.

My first time writing some sort of walkthrough, I hope this helps...!

So how about you buy a light source from the town merchant?
Aletheia Mar 3, 2017 @ 4:57am
Just die and use a Rancid Egg in Dirtmouth. You'll be able to get your geos and soul back.

Edit, you might be able to go your way through Ancient Basin to City of Tears.
Also, the answer below haha.

And it's not like you even have to die - just exit the game and load your save, you'll appear next to the last bench you sat at.

The last bench I sat at is in the deepnest. I went through the entire deepnest but I can't find an exit other than the tramway (or the dark place at the left). So, I can't go back to the town.

I think I'll go through the Ancient Basin. In case I'm not good enough I'll use the Rancid egg.
Thanks

Pretty sure it's doable, it's what I did on my playthrough because I was so lost in Deepnest and didn't buy the lantern when I got there. So I just went to Ancient Basin, and made my way up to the city of tears.
The only abilities needed are dash and walljump. Just ignore the flying mobs with the spears, they're annoying as hell.

Well done!! lol

You took the shortcut to deepnest, which bypassed the mantis lord and essentially didnt not open the door that lead you out.

You only route now is take the tram pass from the abandon tram and ride the tram to ancient basin and get the double jump from the area boss so you can get back to the surface through the Royal Waterway

Good Luck!!

So all I have to do is go up dodging the spear guys ? I think I can handle it.

That's my luck, I'm born to take shortcuts. Hah, I wonder why I have to take the tougher path in every game that I play. But at least now I know there's a standard route.

Thanks

Yes, if you go with the tram to Ancient Basin, you take the upper exit, then you'll have to deal with those flying monsters, then you'll have a vertical jumping puzzle with spikes everywhere, and some monsters.
When you'll have that done, you'll arrive into the new area, and go make your way to the far right, be sure to evade the monsters, they hit hard. You'll make it to a new Stagway.

Same happened to me, instead of getting out I went deeper into the deepnest until I couldn't leave it anymore (throught the top entrance), but I did not give up, I found a tram ticket in top left of this screenshot, then the tram itself in bottom right. https://gyazo.com/464737e50ffb26db1d82aa226465bae9

So I went to that snowy place called Kingdom's Edge, if I remember right you can get to the beginning of the game somewhere from this area https://gyazo.com/ce9471e13eaedf0c6ffc6a920b012615 just don't go to the bottom right, it was pretty tought for me.

Hah. I went to Kingdom's Edge but then I went back to the Deepnest because "why do I need to go deeper and deeper when I need to go to the surface ?"

Anyway, I'm saved now. Thanks

I wasn't expecting someone to bring back this topic after so long :kuro:

Well explained though, but I think you made a mistake in 3) after you said to head towards the hotsprings, you need to head right, not left.

I went into deepnest just after defeating the mantis lord.

With only dash and claw, I managed to make to the very end, killed bosses, destroyed the mask and unlocked the stag and tram.
The whole path is so tough. Consists of myriads of pogo jump areas and really tough enemies (especially the Stalking Devout. Some are required to kill, no sidepath). After beating this area, I feel rest of the game is a breeze...
