Seem to be stuck (Isma's Grove Bug?)

I am attempting to get the acid protection item in Isma's Grove, but the fight that is supposed to happen (based on watching some youtube videos) isn't triggering for me. I have progressed pretty far into the game (just finished Queen's Gardens and seem to have most items), so I don't think there is something else I need to do to trigger the fight. Is there something I am missing?

And to elaborate, the room where enemies are supposed to spawn just has the grate up blocking my way to the lower part of Isma'a Grove (right grate), while the other two grates remain open (left/top grates). I've tried going into the room via both both entrances and nothing triggers enemies spawning. Maybe its bugged since I came back to it so late in the game?

Did you read the message on the stone before entering the area? The one that says only warriors or something can pass?

Which one? I tried with the heroic odor one (which I think the dung defender drops) and nothing happens.

Watched some more videos of people doing this area and there is no special thing they seem to do to trigger the fight. So this really seems like its a game-stopping bug since I can't progress without that item. Really hope a patch can fix this.

I have the same bug, fight didn't triggered. Maybe there is a trainer or smth to pass the door?

I am hoping the patch might fix it. But I've also started a thread about it in the troubleshooting forums since it definitely seems to be a bug and not just missing something in the game.

My shadow is stuck in Isma's Grove, but i can't go there get it because the GATE IS F*&%*& LOCKED

I had a similar problem. The fight did trigger but I left after I beat it and when I came back the gate was closed. It sucks but the devs said that it should be fixed in 1.0.0.8. patch.
