If the bonfires in darksoul are miles aways from the bosses, i am sure the people would be so p1ssed by it.
It is not fun trying to do platform jumping and avoiding creeps just to get back to a boss fight..
The Key word is "not fun" doing a marathron run back to the boss.
I just lost 2.5k geo in trying to get to a stag station from my bench and I have no qualms about cheating them back in when a trainer comes out, where in by far most other games I'd refuse to ever do so.
It's a great game, but it could've done with some more play testing.
HAHA.
HAHAHAHA.
Why do you play games?
@ the "git gud" crowd: Hush, back to the Dark Souls 3 forum you go.
BTT: The bench placement reminds me very much of the bonfire placement of Dark Souls 1, and while I find it kinds annoying, I very often end up in interesting places because of looking for the next bonfire, which is always an exciting "How did I end up HERE?" moment when I finally discover a new short cut this way. Geo loss hasn't been a problem since I discovered the Rancid Egg merchant in City of Tears.
For me the main problem is that at this point the sense of explorations is gone to be replaced by a feel of "where am I and what am I doing?".
Often while exploring I end up going back somewhere where I have already been or not find anything relevant. But most importantly at this point when I die while exploring and have to go all the way back to who know where I tend to quit the game. It doesn't annoy me with the bosses but when I'm deep into a new area and I die...
There is a very good reason for that, and it sounds like you haven't yet triggered it.
Respawn points are somewhat fixed with the dream gates guys. Problem solved.
You just need to know how and where to place it and voila
To me the only thing baffling about this game is the map system - having to buy the map to uncover the world/level map sounds pretty stupid on its own, but having to go sit on the bench to see what you uncovered is reaching for whole new level.
