The 1 BIG "Negative" part of Hallow Knight---The Respawn points
The Respawn points between the bosses are really off the charts.

Comparing with Castlevania, the respawn point are near to the boss. They are at least 2 room away. Here in hallow Knight, you have to climb through so many rooms to get back to the boss, not to mention the amount enemies in-between.

If you look at darksouls, the bonfires are also close to the bosses.

I would say this is fustrating for some people.

If only, respawn points could readjusted in future patches.

For now, it is just GIT GUD:steamfacepalm:

If devs refuse to implement a proper and traditional PC saving system then save points need to be at every major boss...Period..

I enjoy the challenge of the game overall, but I have to agree with this. The respawn points could and should be somewhat closer to the bosses. If you're going to throw a player into the Crystal Caverns and not let them escape easily, don't make the only save point a solitary bench and make the only other bench have a boss on it.

i like how in my review for the game, i mention every issue players here in the forums have, but my review is downvoted ot hell and back, haha. just funny how nobody ventures into the discussions to see how the game actually is

Some of the respawn benches location do not even make sense...

If the bonfires in darksoul are miles aways from the bosses, i am sure the people would be so p1ssed by it.

It is not fun trying to do platform jumping and avoiding creeps just to get back to a boss fight..

The Key word is "not fun" doing a marathron run back to the boss.

The game has several little frustration elements like this, such as the bank being at a specific station. There's no reason that you don't just "save" the NPC and have them back at the village. The lack of a town portal consumable or "return to last bench" consumable is also strange.
I just lost 2.5k geo in trying to get to a stag station from my bench and I have no qualms about cheating them back in when a trainer comes out, where in by far most other games I'd refuse to ever do so.
It's a great game, but it could've done with some more play testing.

Why do you play games?

the amount of manchildren playing games is astounding, how you people manage to get dressed in the morning without kneepads and rubber helmets completely eludes me.

@ All those people praising the Souls bonfire placement "in front of bosses":I highly recommend to do a re-run of these games. Puts things into perspective, because with the exception of Dark Souls 3, they all did this "Run 100 miles through enemy territory, just to get instakilled again" gimmick. It's what Dark Souls 1 and 2 are FAMOUS for (first Dragon Rider boss, Ruin Sentinels, Taurus Demon, Capra Demon, even Ornstein and Smough if you get caught by the Silver Knights), and how I got so good at parrying Silver Knights in Dark Souls 1 :3 .

@ the "git gud" crowd: Hush, back to the Dark Souls 3 forum you go.

BTT: The bench placement reminds me very much of the bonfire placement of Dark Souls 1, and while I find it kinds annoying, I very often end up in interesting places because of looking for the next bonfire, which is always an exciting "How did I end up HERE?" moment when I finally discover a new short cut this way. Geo loss hasn't been a problem since I discovered the Rancid Egg merchant in City of Tears.

I must admit as much as I'm loving this game (I haven't finished it yet) I'm starting to consider to quit the game (25 hours played so far).

For me the main problem is that at this point the sense of explorations is gone to be replaced by a feel of "where am I and what am I doing?".

Often while exploring I end up going back somewhere where I have already been or not find anything relevant. But most importantly at this point when I die while exploring and have to go all the way back to who know where I tend to quit the game. It doesn't annoy me with the bosses but when I'm deep into a new area and I die... :steamsad:

I don't have an issue with that most the time they make it so you can get to a boss within 20 seconds of a bench.
HansBerg Aug 22, 2017 @ 4:02pm
I don't remember any of the benches being especially far from anything. How long is it taking some of yo to get back to which bosses, and how is it that you're dying en route? I may be misremembering something, of course, but I never recall it taking more than a couple of minutes to charge on through to where I perished.

There is a very good reason for that, and it sounds like you haven't yet triggered it.

If you explore around instead of going right to difficult parts, the game is much easier. I didn't really like any Dark Souls or Bloodborne, (I think a minority here) yet loved Hollow Knight. The only two areas that I had trouble with respawn points were Soul Sanctum, which had a secret shortcut next to a bech that I was unaware of when I first played through the game and Crystal Cavern, because I was not upgraded enough to deal with the annoying flies there. Not to say that people have to love the game, but saying that the devs need to change the save points, or they needed to test the spacing of them more just doesn't make sense. There is litereraly an achievement that you get for not dying, which renders the save function of the bench useless.

Respawn points are somewhat fixed with the dream gates guys. Problem solved.

You just need to know how and where to place it and voila

Until it decides to screw you over and drop you to deepnest, because it feels like it that is.

To me the only thing baffling about this game is the map system - having to buy the map to uncover the world/level map sounds pretty stupid on its own, but having to go sit on the bench to see what you uncovered is reaching for whole new level.
