I'm going to say yes, I feel like there's way more than a Dark Souls game, but it is in that realm of "You are thrown into a strange world you don't really understand and have to talk to NPCs and figure out the story". If you look at is as an enjoyable lore-filled world, it's great. I'm hoping it pays off longterm.

It is really unclear what's going on when you start the game, but eventually you get a lot of clues about lore and plot. And it is really interesting. Gives a lots of material for speculations, and is much more grim, than you can imagine for such "childish" setting. Also, it requires a lot of attention and insight, as the world itself gives you hints to what is happening, and what happened before.

Thank you for the answer!
I saw you have already 20 hours in the game
Is it metroidvania that is similar to Salt And Sanctuary or how is this game structured?

It is metroidvania, but in most metroidvania-like games, you are forced to go in one direction, as most other directions are blocked by obstacles you can't overcome, and new ability usually allows you to enter one new location, where you can get next ability etc. Here, after you get 2-4 abilities, you find yourself in amazingly big world to explore. I have like 5 different locations to visit at the moment, and there are no major obstacles for me to do that (and I really have no idea where should I go by the plot, so this is ok).

To me, the world this game is set in is amazing. The setting is dark and mysterious, but leaves enough room for cuteness and silliness. The gameplay is challenging without being as grueling as Dark Souls 1 or 2, it rewards exploration and doesn't punish you TOO hard if you make mistakes.

TL;DR: Yes, it is amazing, now go get it!
