I think it has something to do with your controller using Xinput instead of Direct Input.

I've found that double-tapping the map button has brought up the inventory screen, or zoomed the map out to permit access to the inventory. Using a logitech F310 though, so not sure if it's universal.

Yeah, I have the same problem with the Logitech controller. All the other buttons are mapped except seemingly the inventory button. Seems like a weird oversight.

lul this is an old thread try to go to steam big picture then controller settings and configure your controller there maybe some of the keys are not mapped correctly it fixed my problems with dead cells should work on any game on steam

My Logitech F310 controller works fine with this game, while it is set to DirectInput mode. The default button mappings are nearly excellent :)

Edit: To clarify, the issue seems to happen with XInput devices.

I see this has never been fixed. Happened to me with my default Xbox360 controller.
Going back to the main menu helped. (keyboard didn't help either by the way).

ty. i was here smile
Sorry to hear that, I use a PC so I'm afraid I can't help. I wish you the best of luck tho.

Like Nicholas Steel wrote, if you are using a Logitech F310 controller right now, turn it around, you will see a small switch labeled X and D.
You wanna put it on D for Direct Input.

yeah im using an 8bitdo SN30 controller and am having the same issue, unfortunately for some reason you cant remap the inventory bitton so I've just been using the keyboard input for that, thankful you don't need inventory for combat and stuff

I turn on Native Controller Input (beta) setting in Pause > Option > Controller > Native Controller Input (beta) ON to fix Inventory Button Bug

Yes, that's the new solution. Iirc it was made available after this topic was created (finalised support expected when they finish the 64bit game update).
