Then 'frustrated', which I don't understand. Isn't every souls game has no map? In HK you just keep exploring area until you find the map maker then you got one, way kinder than souls games.
overall the game, i hate to say it, is very poorly made in that regard. the htiboxes are ♥♥♥♥♥♥ too at times, and there is HUGE HUGE HUGE frame skippnig that totally destroys you during boss fights and you die with no chance.
on top of that the stupid a$$ map doesnt even update as you adventure. you have to go through a cave and then run back to a save point and ONLY THEN does your map update. it doesnt ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ update as youre running through but only after youve already finished your business there.
like holy ♥♥♥♥ its stupid.
The main turn off is the lack of town warps. If you could warp back to the main hub at least it would be bearable.
I could just about handle the very megre save point system, and the stupid transit system which has about 4 points when you've reached at least ten very distanced corners of the map world. But the dead walking time you spend is pretty silly, and it's hurting the game for me, which otherwise is pretty great.
I think everything was really well thought out. Its not for everyone but i enjoy it.
Well, one of the major cornerstones of this game is exploration. To unlock a map for the new area (though you need another buyable upgrade to see where you are on the map via an icon) So naturally as you explore you should come across the guy that is drawing the map to sell to you. You can find him in each major area. If you somehow miss him (i'm not sure waht determines this factor) his map appears in his shop as being purchaseable. Maybe it becomes available if you enter the specific zone he is in, then leave it?
It never feels unfair, though - it's really clear to me that every death I've died has been my fault, the game is giving me all the tools and information I need to win, I just need to search for it and analyse what I'm seeing.
If you don't like the sound of that, I think you'd probably find the game frustrating. But it's very, VERY good!
