How do I even jump right on these? I can do it every now and then but I haven't figured out the timing or anything yet. :/

Strike downwards with your blade. You can do this with any enemy as well. (This allows you to snag a caterpillar early on before getting the dash or wall jump.)

you can also do this with most ground spikes, and some puzzles require doing it of moving spiked enemies
