you just gotta explore properly. the map was bottom right. I think if you rush forward too quick you can miss them!
these games typically don;t have maps, I think it's part of the genre requirements that it has no, or a very basic map. Look up "Mteroidvania"
a general rule of thumb is try all corridors and you can usually work out where you;re meant to be based on the enemy types and how difficult they are.. some areas will outright be shut off until you "power up" and are able to "jump higher" or "blow up a wall" or whatever.... I have to manually explore, especially on day 1, no info yet, we need to field test it.
