We realised we’ve been a bit vague on the delivery of Backer Content and Stretch Goals, what’s in, and what’s coming later. We thought it’s worth clearing up before we launch.

The answer is: Most content is in the base game, but some larger pieces will come later.

Specifically at launch you can expect:

The White Palace
4 Additional Quests
All Stone Plaques
All Bug Spirits
All Warrior Ghosts
All NPCs
1 (of 3) Backer Bosses
The Colosseum of Fools
As much as we’d have loved to include everything at launch, we equally want to do justice to it all, and that means taking the time to do it right. It also means not making you wait another 6 months for Hollow Knight!

Just to clarify - that list doesn't include the Abyss, but post #6 suggests it exists. Is it in the game?

I have to admit i missed the Kickstarter completely and only heard about it when it was already funded. But i absolutely love the game, i really hope all the content that was listed as Stretch Goals but didn't get funded in time will get released eventually.

I am MORE than willing to pay for these things as additional DLC, the game is nothing short of a masterpiece.

You get to the abyss with the king's brand in the ancient basin. It is in the game.
