Is it possible to get 1800 essence without fighting the Failed Champion?

I think to reach 1800 essence, you have to fight some dream bosses.
But yes, you can skip Failed Champion and Lost Kin, I think.

Regardless, they're still a pain, (I think) they were lazily designed bosses that require you to jump through hoops for little reward.

The bosses aren't about rewards. They're the pinnacle ultimate challenges for end game. You beat them purely to get your jollies.

It's entirely doable to get the 1800 without them.
