"Family Sharing"
Hello,

I would need some precise help.
This is my second account for DDDA and it worked just fine. Then I installed a better HD in my lapptop and now when I log-in to my account it shows "buy" instead of "play". If I remember correctly, I didn't even use the family-share option when I made my second account. I just created a new one and paid € 5,-- to get it activated.
It still shows "Shared from account XXXX" (i.e. my original account), but I still need to "buy" it, to keep on playing.
I then completely deinstalled/reinstalled the game and use the Family-Share option to activate it, but it is still not working.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or if something is broken?
I browesedonYoutube for Guide-Videos and followed their advice, but it's not working.
Anyone had the same problem?

Need a step-by step guide (for technical imbecils like me) to get this working.

Either in English or German.

Thank you.

It sounds like Steam is treating you like a first time user. If that is the case then you'll have to go into your old account and make sure you have the family share plan activated for DDDA and your "new" persona. Might be listed as computer this or that. Then go into your new account and request to borrow the game. Steam will send a msg to your original account about your request which you obviously approve. I've had one case where Steam bypassed all this and simply said "Ok you're already approved" and I could log into the game under both personas. Let's hope you get the latter.

Well, I just tried that. (Writting this from my 1. Account). In the Steap Support it say's the box for "Authorize Library sharing for this Account" should be checked.
It is and always was.
Then the eligble accounts for sharing should show in the list below and be checked.
But nothing shows there except "No other local accounts found".

As I described before, when I go to my second (new account), it states below the "buy" button "Sharing games from XXX Library".

It seems like my second account knows the games of my primary account, but the primary account doesn't register the presence of the secondary account. This is extremly frustrating. I don't know how to fix this. I'm almost inclined to delete the second account, but it is a shame to waste all the progress of the game.

Ok so I myself have never used family share to make a second account, but my daughter's have used it for some of my games on "THEIR" pc's. I do remember though helping someone many years ago with a save issue, here is the short version of it.
Son uses dads account, later dad buys son a pc, move save to sons pc, change user code but still has buy listed.
Deleting the 0-7 files from the save folder fixed the issue, so since you are using a second account on your pc have you tried creating a second install location for the second account. This could be the issue because you said it detected your games but has buy option, that's because all settings in the folder, games and Steam, are tied to your main account.

I don't quite understand. What do you mean "creating second install location"? Bot account's are on the same PC. I wouldn't know where else to put them at the moment.
Deleting the 0-7 files from Save folder; Any specific files or do you actually mean the DDDA Saves? That would mean, I would have to start all over again and all the stuff I have gathered, Dragonforged ect. ect would be gone, no?

The save folder contains 0-7 and DDDA.save files so delete the 0-7 files, but leave your save file(DDDA.save). Make a new folder anywhere you want and name it anything you want maybe account 2. Manage your Steam downloads under settings in the second account to install the game in the new folder.

I've used steams family share plan for years and have replaced my pc twice while doing do. Frankly, it's a PITA. I assume you have installed Steam and your games on your new PC under you original Steam Acct by now and you've also logged into steam under your new steam acct. At this point, despite the fact that both Steam accts are on one computer) Steam assumes you have 2 computers). Your original acct has to have the family share plan set up (this will become your PARENT acct under the family share plan) to include your imaginary 2nd computer. You can set the family share plan so only specific games can be played under your 2nd acct or you can choose all games to be shared, that's up to you.

Once you've done the above go back and log into steam under your new acct and click on the game. One of two things is going to happen. A: You will be told you have to request permission to play the game from your original persona. This generates an e-mail being sent to the e-mail address of your Parent acct notifying you that your new persona has requested permission to play the game. Go to that e-mail and approve the request. Then go back into steam under your new acct and click on the game. You should see a msg saying "OK, you've been approved" and allow you to play the game.
OR....B) When you've done all the above, are logged into Steam under your new acct and clicked on the game you'll get a msg telling you to request permission to use the acct from your Parent acct. Then almost immediately you'll get a msg saying "Oh, I see you've already been approved" and be allowed to play the game on your 2nd acct.

I'm not saying there's no other way to do this. There might be but it's what I've had to do every time I've gotten a new PC. Hope this helps.
