Crash & Save Trouble

Just bought this, and the save option is always blanked out. Also, it crashes/freezes whenever I get to the character customization process. Always having to start from the beginning and this is not making me a happy camper.

Save option should be blanked out only during combat. Also some quests disable saving.
Make sure you have necessary libraries installed. You need DirectX 9.0c and both versions of Ms Visual C++ 2010.

Some ppl have been reporting issues with the game when either Fullscreen or Vsync was on. If you have these on turn them off and see if it will help. If these won't help see if deleting the config,ini file will do something. The file is located at
C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\DRAGONS DOGMA DARK ARISEN

Next, check if your GPU software is messing with the game. You want to get rid of any "enhancements" that are applied to the game.

Also, talk is that the game may malfuncion if installed at the default path ie Program files on C drive. Eventually a really long path may do the same. See if moving the game somewhere else, with shorter path will help. You may use these instructions

No mods, vanilla install, clean and new install. Just got the thing when this was posted.

Hello Lord Oribron,

I am wondering if you happened to find a solution to this issue? I too have the same trouble, after defeating that epic Chimera and going into character creation i get about half way through each time and it suddenly hangs till i end task using Task Manager. Having to test the adjustments i've made from the advice kindly given by zadymek above is a lengthy process each time as I cannot save at any point from start of game to character creation.

Didn't manage to fix it by any chance did you my lord?? :P

I did manage to continue through, but I did not do anything tbh. I may have turned Vsync off, but that was it. Once I got through the creation and selection process, everything seemed to run and save normally after that. Wish I could be more help, I just ran the game a time or two more and it seemed to work fine. Have a good one!
