No Audio, No Sound
I've seen a lot of posts here about low/quiet audio - but I'm not getting any sound at all. Game runs fine otherwise, just no sound.

In-game audio settings are at max (100), turned my speakers up all the way in addition - nothing. Tried headphones, checked to confirm I have latest drivers, tried configuring my speaker settings and editing the game's config.ini file - no luck. Tried my other games in Steam, audio works just fine for them ...

Any one else experiencing this with Dragon's Dogma? Any solutions? Thanks!

I have the same problem, I've tried all the suggestions in the 'low audio' threads but no luck. I just cannot figure this out

(Sorry for my english, not my native language)

I had the same issue (no audio at all in this game), i slove it by reinstal directx 11(last one)

Fixed the problem, here's what i did;

1. Go to Steam>steamapps>common>DDDA
2. Open _CommonRedist>DirectX>June2010
3. Scroll down and find 'DXSETUP'
4. Run DXSETUP and install (you'll be asked to reboot)

I'm guessing the way steam installed it automatically upon running the game for the first time didn't work so well. Hope it helps.

Thanks Yatho.

Hello, I have the exact same issue. Trying this fix gave me a message that directx was not compatible with my version of windows (windows 10). Since my audio works with all my other games and applications this surely can't be a hardware issue.

If anyone could please help it would be appreciated. I have fully updated drivers and have directx 12 for windows 10 (which I'm apparently unable to change).

I have tried installing an older version of directx and installed in compatibility mode. It would install but still no audio.

This is literally my first time using a forum, sorry if my message is hard to understand...I am quite frustrated and desperate.

In your case it may be set to surround so open the config file found in appdata folder and set to stereo.

I found this solution too. Tried and failed.

The game also has no sound from another provider (other than steam) so the problem is with the game and not a steam conflict or setting.

Just for sh**s and giggles try using Alt - Tab. Most of the time this causes the Black Screen issue and then open the Tak Manager ( Ctrl + Alt + Delete) and right click on the DDDA.exe and select maximize to see if it starts playing the sound. If not and it doesn't take you that long to download it I would delete the game folder and re-download. Also delete the config file before trying the re-download game.

Neither of those methods worked but I appreciate the suggestions.

After looking around I found this but if this doesn't fix it i'm sorry but out of ideals.

So I'm having this same issue, except I don't have a CommonRedist in my DDDA folder on my computer.... wtf?

Word is that the last silent update of "libraries" (many games got that) wiped out installation files.
Just download DirectX 9 redistributable from Ms' site I guess.

Little update, I got the audio to work but it's really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ weird. The game will not play audio in full screen UNLESS i have a second monitor plugged in, and then it plays the audio from that.

But in window mode it will play the audio just fine.

What even what?
