WMV Windows 10 Insider Preview Issue
Hail Arisen,

UPDATE: We have acknowledged that this fix is not working for some users, and our team is currently looking further into it. In the meantime, please provide the contents of your config.ini files along with your specifications in your reply to this thread. Thank you and we apologize for any inconvenience.

For users experiencing video playback issues on Windows 10 Preview, our team is working on integrating the codec. However for the time being please check out the following workaround on your PC:

1. Go to Steam Library
2. Right-click on Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
3. Select Properties
4. Select Local File Tab
5. Browse Local Files
6. Open "nativePC" folder
7. Open "movie" folder
8. Open "title" folder
9. Copy "title_A" file
10. Open Open "event" folder
11. Paste "title_A" file
12. Delete "st100ev00" file
13. Change pasted "title_A" file name to "st100ev00"

I was having black screen problems with Resident Evil HD Remaster and this is how I fixed it.
Download the (wmvcore.dll) file provided in the post below. Then put it in the root of DDDA.

The version is older than the one in the win 10 preview. I am also on build 11099 rs1. Anyhow, I was able to get past the chimera and make my character without any issues. Hopefully this will help some.

Nice. I tried downloading different codecs but that didn't help. Where did you get this DLL?

@ Irish : The file you need isn't an .exe but a .dll.
>> wmvcore.dll

I appreciate that immensly! In which file exactly does this need to go in? Straight into the DDDA folder?

Does anyone have a link to the download for that dxwebsetup.exe? I tried following the links but it's not getting me anywhere
Google "DirectX Web Update" without the quote marks.

It should go in the exact same place as the games EXE file.

Unfortunately that dll didn't work for me :/ I'm still getting a black screen when my game launches. When I tried playing it earlier today hooking my laptop to my tv and using extend the displays it worked for a bit but i had to stop playing in the tutorial for a bit. When i tried relaunching afterwards it started doing this where it sits at the black screen at launch and if i tried changing which "monitor" was main and back it would start working. I'm not sure what's going on. I can't even alt tab or alt f4 to get out of that screen. I have to press the power button to put my laptop to sleep to get to the desktop, but when i'm in the black screen I get the games cursor icon instead of the standard computer cursor.

The .dll fix has worked for me, though not perfectly.

First of all the low volume issue seems to have resolved itself, perhaps due to the recent update which I assume is for the additional content (OST and artbook), but that's only 20% downloaded before I decided to try the .dll before waiting until it had finished. I noticed I had to put the brightness back down a notch when I started again, so perhaps it had done something. The volume is as loud as it should be and it also sounds like I'm getting proper surround now, I don't think I was before.

After the Chimera fight it did load the video though there was some very bad distorted static and I had to unplug my headphones. I tried to listen again a short way into the video and it mostly ok, except there was a high-pitched tone running behind the other sounds. I heard some static right at the end of the video too. So perhaps a more official solution would work better.

But at least it's playable now, I've made my character and I've been able to start properly.

Thanks.

ok! exile luckily you know the problem of another title of Capcom.
It works!
Possible that people who earn millions of euro / dollar with our money, not realizing that there is a problem already encountered in the past, on their own game?

DEVELOPERS CAPCOM, A USER MUST DISCOVER, A PROBLEM THAT WAS ALREADY IN ANOTHER YOUR GAME?

Thanks exile for bringing the solution!

Confirmed as working here too.. Thanks to the person who linked and the person who came up with the original fix. No thanks at ALL to Capcom.. Ridiculous.

It fixed the video issue for me but i still can't play the game as in the main game as soon as i start and it tells you to 'take up arms'' i press the button to do so and the game just hangs. Has anyone else had this issue?

This works. And I never experienced any of the other black screen/audio issues, I don't think they're related. This is solely for the broken cutscenes leading to infinite loading.
tazamiga 16 ENE 2016 a las 7:08
Game is running fine now , no more crashes. It turned out oddly i just had to verify the files again and it said that 40 odd files were corrupt and reaquired them . obviously some issue when i installed the game. May have lost connection or something. In any case with the dll fix for the video issue it's running fine now apart from awful framerates in parts and strange landscape draw ins causing stutter even with gsync active.
Laughing Orc 16 ENE 2016 a las 10:47
the .dll worked for me too, game is running perfectly without any issues.
