Steam Controller workaround (editing the config.ini)
A recent update seems to have caused compatibility problems with the Steam Controller. After some experimentation I think the Steam Controller is being detected twice as two different gamepads with conflicting settings. Further complicating matters is that now the triggers aren't being detected properly within the game config screen. I've come up with a workaround by basically editing the config.ini file so that the second detected pad matches the default XBox 360 pad settings.

Open the game's config file (using Notepad or any other text editor) at the path:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\CAPCOM\DRAGONS DOGMA DARK ARISEN\config.ini

where <username> is your Windows user name. The last section of the file should have the following line at the bottom:

ProductName=Controller (XBOX 360 For Windows)

The lines above it that start with MAP_ are its settings; I altered them to match the following:

MAP_A=1 MAP_B=2 MAP_X=3 MAP_Y=4 MAP_LEFT=200 MAP_RIGHT=42 MAP_UP=39 MAP_DOWN=40 MAP_START=8 MAP_BACK=7 MAP_LT=12 MAP_LB=5 MAP_RT=11 MAP_RB=6 MAP_LSTICK_PUSH=9 MAP_LSTICK_VERT=Y MAP_LSTICK_HORZ=X MAP_RSTICK_PUSH=10 MAP_RSTICK_VERT=-RY MAP_RSTICK_HORZ=RX

The Steam Controller should now act an XBox 360 pad, with the same button layout and working triggers. However, the in-game button displays will still be using generically numbered labels instead of the normal XYAB nomenclature, which may confuse new players who haven't memorized the button functions yet.

Disable the Steam Client Beta to get back normal behavior.
