Accessing server... forever
Seen more people than me have this issue and there is still no concrete fix. When I try to load my game I just get stuck on Accessing server... indefinitely and I have to Alt+F4 out. I have the game on another Steam account on this computer and it has no issues connecting so it's obviously not an issue with any conflicting computer programs or Firewalls or anything like that, but an issue specific to this account/savefile. Please help bring this issue to Capcom's attention because there is no known fix.

I'm getting this problem as well. Played online since the game released, and only just recently got this problem today.

I can play offline fine, but playing while online causes me to hang forever on the Accessing Server screen.

Yeah I can load my save offline fine also. It's just loading online that's causing the issue.

I got this problem starting 2 days after launch and nothing I tried fixed it. I quit playing while waiting for a fix. Sadly it doesn't seem to be forthcoming.

Wish we at least had some idea what the problem was. All I know is I played the first 2 days no problem then woke up the next morning and it was borked and no amount of reinstalling, save file deleting, or firewall/scan disabling (including in the router) fixed the issue.

Yeah I saw your thread when googling around for solutions. My best guess it's something on Capcom's server side flagging specific accounts with something that's causing this. I noticed when hiring my main pawn with my other account that it was out of date, and hadn't updated from last time I was able to connect online. So perhaps it's an issue related to pawns. Just hope they can put out a fix soon, maybe they can cycle their servers or something to reset any issues like this.

It seems that all you can do when this starts happening is start it offline and switch to online after it loads.

If and when this ever happens to me, I plan to load one of my backup saves and see if I can fix, prevent, or recreate the issue.

You're right that starting in offline mode then switching to online mode in game will let you access online pawns. However! I can confirm that my Pawn is not interacting properly with the server. It isn't receiving anything from being rented. I confirmed this by renting it with my family-shared Steam account, running a mission, then returning it. When logging into my main account and resting at an inn, I got nothing. The loading time is also significantly quicker than when online was working properly, leading me to believe the game is skipping or failing some kind of online check - likely the issue what prevents the game from loading in the first place. So the issue is almost certainly related to Capcom's server and the pawns. Corrupted pawns maybe?

As an unrelated aside, I seem to be unable to rent the pawn of my family-shared account (I even paid the 5€ to remove account restrictions, but it didn't help).

I look forward to anything you discover if you get the same issue.

In the meantime, my only ideas are: run a Steam file cache verification; remove the config file that lies in the AppData folder so the game recreates it; restore an old backup save; remove the save file (and turn off cloud sync) and start fresh. At least to see whether the game works then.

Also make sure that, when doing pawn testing, the account that hires the pawn dismisses it and then rests at an inn, which uploads the dismissal to the server. Then the owner can rest and receive it. It's not clear from your description whether you had your second account rest at the inn after dismissing it.

Another idea...
You can try this save converter tool's reset function and see what happens. BACK UP YOUR SAVE FILE FIRST. Also turn off Steam cloud sync.

Any idea why anyone?

Try running the save through the command "DDsavetool -reset DDDA.sav"
You should also make sure there's no console pawns in your party.

And IF THAT WORKS, I would very much like to see the before and after files posted to a file host so I can download them and see what changed. We might solve this mystery, in that event.

Well, I seem to have gotten quite ahead of myself... I had indeed forgot to rest at an inn with my other account, and what do you know, I did in fact get my RC. And my other account's pawn appeared in the Rift. Still, getting the same load error. So it probably is some kind of error in the save file, that's flagging your save for... something with the server.

I'm almost eager for it to happen to me, so I can really dig into it. Until then I can only ask that you use the converter program as described, though I understand if you'd rather not go through the effort. Though, if you just give me your save file, I could create a second Steam account, try to convert the save to that account ID, and find out whether it fails to load in the same manner.
Charlemagne Bee Feb 5, 2016 @ 2:08pm
I respect and appreciate your eagerness to help, but I'd rather not meddle with save files... just a personal paranoia of mine. That being said, the other guy in this thread tried going as far as reinstalling the entire game and starting over and it didn't fix it in his case. So it may even be your Steam ID itself that's the issue.

That's one reason I wanted to try loading the save file myself, to see if it exhibits the same problem under another account. :) But no problem. I'll just wait for it to happen or for someone else to try one of these things.

i repacked with converter tool and no dice. what tool are you talking about? my tool only has repack option. seems to me it has something to do with steam/capcom searching ur friends and favorites and junk. i had a few changes to my user list and the next day i was screwed. also ive always had around half of my friends with the game show up in the rift. bet something with this that problem caused this problem...
