I did another fresh install of windows, uninstalled adrenaline in safe mode with DDU, again, reinstalled in airplane mode, removed MSI Afterburner, disabled enhanced sync, disabled Radeon overlay and put an aggressive fan curve on Wattman. The card is now very stable and burning through all games (Except GTAV for some reason, it won't even boot it, crashes on load). I'm getting nice performance in everything else I've played so far (Forza H4, Warframe, Dead Rising 4, Prey, and Apex Legends). I don't know if this will work for everyone else but try it.
In terms of compatibility the short test runs in our lab had issues with GTAV where reflection MSAA resulted in very poor, almost matt, reflection fidelity (the same bug appeared on several Navi and Vega cards).
Ill try some of the stuff you said. At the moment i've already verified files, i've tried drivers from august 2019 to the newest feb 2020 drivers. Which drivers are you using at the moment? Also I didn't know you could could remove the adrenaline UI I thought it was a all in one download thing. I know with my nvidia drivers it could choose whether I wanted the geforce experience thing installed.
am using 20.2.2 drivers. And I'm about to test them as just installed those ;) Before I was using 19.12.2.
As for disabling AMD overlay either google it or use this instruction
On a side note I got the game downloaded and running on my old computer with the newest nvidia drivers on a 980 and no problem what so ever.
Edit: Well the new drivers didn't fix it. What I did found out is that if you upscale your resolution to 3840 by 2160 , at least I have to upscale it because my monitor is 1080p, the artifacts disappear. Not really a solution since in my case the steam overlay is unreadable. But if anyone reads this and has a similar problem at least you have a couple of fixes to try out. But it really seems to be an AMD driver problem, they have a reputation for taking their time to fix problems like this. Especially since the 5500, 5600 and 5700 xt's are pretty recent gpu's so not everything is up to snuff yet. Hope this helps somebody.
Another edit: The artifacts also appear in the details tab on the quest log.
1: change desktop to 3840 x 2160 and in Windows settings change the SCALE AND LAYOUT to at least 150% ( over 150% causes issues in some cases). This will make text and icons larger and easier to read/see.
2: not sure about the AMD settings because I use Nvidia but it may have a scaling option like there is in the Nvidia control panel too where you can "override the scaling options set by games and programs". This is so you can set user specific resolutions for games and some programs and it doesn't change Windows desktop so that the Steam overlay should still show in the 1920 x 1080 resolution.
Note: this option has caused issues for me for other games in the past so keep that in mind when trying to play other games.
Thanks, I forgot that that windows 10 has the scaling option built in. And you're correct, AMD also has a scaling option. But after some playing and entering the rift some parts of the characters in the rift are, what's the best way to put it, half blue. You can still see some textures but there's some kind of weird blue glow that covers half of the body. I doubt upscaling to 4K is going to fix that but if it does I will post it here. I'll try reporting this to AMD and see what comes out.
I have tried various fixed for other visual bugs found on this game, and different video settings but nothing helps.
Specs:
GPU: amd 5600 xt rog strix
CPU amd 3900x (if it matters).
Did anyone find a solution for this nasty thing or still waiting on amd fix?
Yup, I had that particular problem as well. No fix from AMD, I got a response from them back when I was playing this. It was just the regular ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, reinstall Windows, reinstall drivers, reinstall the game in question. No help whatsoever, its clearly a driver issue but I doubt AMD is gonna roll out a fix for this since its a pretty old game.
It seems that the 5000 series chips only experience these weird ass problems, I've always owned an AMD GPU and never experienced this particular problem with this game. Unfortunately, I was also one of the unlucky ones who experienced black screens when the system was idle for extended periods of time. They fixed that for most people as of now, some still run into that problem though. But AMD's drivers have never been up to snuff from day one, at least not when you compare them to Nvidia's drivers.
Closest thing I found that eliminated the strange artifacting in the menu's, is turning the resolution up to 4K. It doesn't remove it completely but its much less prevalent. You might also notice the blue hue in the rift on some pawns, no way to fix that as far as I know. Since you have the same GPU, just a different brand in the way of cooling and aesthetics, I wouldn't be surprised if you encounter the same issues as me. Other then these annoying problems the game runs fine, at least in my case. Let me know how it goes, I'm curious to see if you can eliminate it completely.
Thank you very much for your input.
I am an amd fan but I spent like 3 hours trying to fix it and find various workarounds without any luck. My card is still eligible for a return so I guess I will be returning the 5600 and wait for the 3070 nvidia.
Thanks again and best of luck.
Also, i've returned my card and waiting for 3070 or big navi to come out :D
