Awakened Daimon
As we all know, this thing isn't Ashe, bur rather something else. Also we know that Ashe used Olra as his main pawn, rather than created his own. We also know that arisen's personality is reflected on created pawn. So may it creature be Ashe's true main pawn, created by new powers granted by Grette as part of his "wish"? This entity reacts to our mark similiar to how pawns and Grigori do, but dies just like regular pawns and has it's own body (inside which resides body of Ashe). It's also, just like pawns, is single-mindedly pursues Ashe's goal and truly awakens only after his death. What i want to say that it is, most likely, some sort of strange pawn-dragon-thing. Not that this gives us much, but still...

Orla and Ashe were in love and Grette came to take his heart as she was a dragon, and to quench the desire of her form and pick a newly arisen, she chose Ashe, who in turned was joined by orla to pursue the dragon. He didn't know at the time it was her till he was pitted against her in the hour of questioning.

In his twist of fate he blurted out a wish made in haste without realizing it. He becamed cursed by his wish and Orla was slain for it, but due to her being part pawn part mortal I assume because Grette was alive in some form, she was able to remain a spirit spectral seeking out help.

Some of the other writings refer to an Arisen who looked be there only to lure other arisens to the place in part of a pact to receive some kind of boon. 1000 human souls must be sacraficed for him/her to receive their boon. My assumptions are this is Barroch, being a roguish type who didn't care where they went after meeting the Arisens that came there. And the fact he was free to roam around the place unscathed like it was a real home for him. Just my assumption unless I find proof somehow :3

But this answers other lore which was hinted on by the wyrm inside the Altar of the Water God who speaks of talking to a fellow countryman in this form.

All in all, you must help undamn the stupid wish Ashe made, but even after doing so, there's still that power feeding the reincarted forms of the Daimon, wonder if you kill him 1000 times will he actually stay dead, maybe the 1000 souls are needed to maintain him?

Arisen who gone mad and decided that his goal was to kill 1000 innocent souls actually became Death. This is well known fact.

The Arisen that became Death was Arthacos (according to the DD wiki). That aside, the wiki also states that Daimon may also be a manifestation of humanity wanting the cycle to end which makes sense in a way considering that Ashe despised the cycle when he faced his own dragon.
