If you don't aim to heal, switch to socerer asap. Sorcerer has better magic attack and -defens-growth. (by the same stamina and life-growth). f
sorcerer also has the "big bam"-spells. Especially bolide. But Seism and Maelstrom are awesome, too. Gicel is a "big-bam"-spells that can be aimed horizontally. (the only other is Ingle and upgrade.) Gicel also has a physical component. (this and Frigor are the only spells, which take weapon physical damage into account. I'm not realy sure, if your base physical also counts.) The other big bams only have physical through secondary effects. (Maelstrom thorugh falling, Blide have the impact. And for seism it's also the falling afaik.) But I believ those damages are fixed. (in comparison to frigor and gicel).
Sorcerer can also enchant, But I tend to let mages do that.
In Skyrim hitting mobs feels like punching a wooden wall. Mobs have no reaction. It's slashing, moving away (when poorly-armored), slashing. It's so bad.
The player-character also lacks reaction to being hit.
The game also has no melee skills.
That makes Skyrim THE button-masher game.
You're finding something worse than reality (interaction-wise) better than this (at 09:49 in the video):

Skyrim's combat has as much substance as watered down juice, while Dragon's Dogma's is a protein shake.
Vanilla is basic af, or maybe stealth archer is your all time favorite thing for some reason. Never detected, one shot every enemy, peak game design I guess.
DDDA similarly has weak classes, strong classes, exploits, and capabilities of oneshot of enemies.
