Active pawns
is there any way to tell which pawns in the rift are from currently active players? I know about the monthly ranked list, but they're all either level 9000 or level 10 with dragonforged equipment

Please remind me why active players are needed? It seems that inactive pawns are also available for hiring?
That's the neat part, you don't! Though it seems like the first list of pawns that comes up when you search in a session is the most recent batch or close to it. Maybe it runs through the latest updated pawns to the oldest; I can't say for sure though.

Renting from active players ensures that any gifts and RC are going to people that might possibly use them rather than being sent to a nebulous fate. They may even rent your pawn in return. It's what made the game feel alive and active despite not having in person multiplayer.

First, be sure you are in the on-line mode when you enter the rift. Entering the rift while in the off_line mode only gets you pawns created by the devs with crappy gear and lunatic inclination combos like Scather/Guardian.
There's no reliable way to tell which pawns belong to active players other than those that show up under the top pawns for the month. Recip hiring is a good thing since you'll need a ton of RCs later in the game and when your pawn is rented by other players it does not gain experience but is paid in RCs. You'll eventually need a ton of RCs later in the game (a million or more) and the quickest way to get them is by having your pawn rented by other players.

Thank you. But personally, I don't care about items and crystals, but rather that my pawn gets as much knowledge about enemies and tasks as possible, and that I complete achievements. Is that possible?
