I could be wrong, but i belive that utilitarian inclanation makes them use tools and the like.

Pawns use special arrows in BBI but do not use them when they are in Gransys

Pawn will ONLY start use special arrow when Tough enemies appear (possessed party, Eliminator, Living armor etc..)

Cant command em, cant force em.
1. Wait for the music.
2 If they already have the right bow they don't need item arrows.

Um, actually
Pawns will use special arrows, also periapts etc, when "the going gets tough". And tough is relative. Depends on party level, number of party members (unconscious Pawn= free slot), enemy type, the number of enemies etc.

Yeah sure it seemed so noteworthy I thought I would screenshot just in case I happened to visit the forums later and someone wanted to see.
Nothing but worms around and she used 3. I then confiscated the blast arrows because I ran into death.

Its difficulty based. As said earlier, lots of factors come into play even total HP pool in the party. There are one off times where they will use it against very specific enemies but I compare those moments similar to when they just throw random twigs in their inventory. Its honestly not programmed very well IMO. Reaching a high enough threat level in base game is rare with how often the party levels up. So rare you could possibly go through the entire game DLC and all without triggering it if you like to farm levels. I hope they rethink how its implemented in DD2.

Why if this is what your Pawns "does" then it shouldn't be hard to reproduce.
Do you at least remember where it happened? Maybe I could check it?
pawns are just straight up refused to use blast arrows no matter what, unless they're fighting an eliminator. But they do use other arrows quite regular, especially petrifying and oil arrows when fighting living armor( for some reasons).

i really do hope capcom give us a special command for pawn to do something specific in DD2.

Idk how this "refusal" looks like, but if Pawns use ANY special arrows that means they will use blast arrows as well. They just use special arrows in random order. If you see that they equip special arrows vs specific enemy remove any arrows but blast arrows, presto!

This would defeat the purpose of the AI as it is now.

All I can tell you is... I quit using any bow wielding pawn because they annoy the ♥♥♥♥ outa me. 2 fighters, 2 mages. Perfect team. I might even switch to 3 fighters.
