Griffin's Bane Help Saving Soldiers
Am I missing something? I'm trying to keep all these f*cking idiots alive but it's impossible. They all die in one hit. And that would be fine if they would sit still like good little china dolls, but they run ahead before I've even reached them. Even if I can save the earlier guys with some quick bow work, if I stay at the bridge for longer than two second before running ahead the two guys on the stairs (at least the later one) die.

Easy solution is wakestones right? Nope, because of the short window to use a wakestone, I basically have to choose to save the earlier folks or the later. Becuase if I run ahead and save the stair soldiers, the ealier ones are unrevivable by the time I get back even if I sprint the whole way and one-hit all enemies, and vice versa.

What I don't get is that I've looked around for guides and I can't find anything useful, which makes me feel like everyone else is having an easy go of it and I just can't see how that is possible.

(spoiler) theyre gone die anyway.
Hazmatt Feb 1, 2016 @ 3:37am
I don't really care if they die later or something haha I'm just after Mercedes' dialogue (I know I could just look it up but at this piont it's a matter of pride). Also I just realized I have literally never read the word spoiler and actually registered the warning. I just keep reading, it's essentailly useless.

Killing the cowardly piece of ♥♥♥♥ before it flees is the most surefire way to get it, it's how I did it on a 2nd playthrough. Get a mage or sorceror with High Ingle. Fast cast, good damage, dead Griffin.

I don't think you're meant to save them. Even if you insta-kill the griffin during the initial encounter, they'll still act like there were a bunch of casualties.

I could have done that but didn't on purpose since it would forfeit me the rest of the quest. I'm all about that sweet, sweet plot /s.

@Forblaze: The wiki acts like specific ones can be saved to unlock special dialouge for mercedes. Have I been had by some elaborate prank that asks the impossible? haha

I didn't actually realize mercedes had any dialogue specific to this quest, so maybe there is something, but the soldiers themselves will still comment on casualties regardless of if there were any deaths or not.

If you talk to her beforehand she asks you to protect them, so that part at least is true.
Nicholas Steel Feb 1, 2016 @ 3:53am
You can protect them and get the special dialog but it's been too long for me to remember any details on how to go about doing it as that was way back on Xbox360 several years ago (Prolly 2013 or 2014).

On PC I had no wakestones so I just ignored them, and besides I was pretty unfamiliar with the layout of the place after all those years since last playing the game!.

Or. You can just let them die and look it up on youtube.

I one hit the Griffon on my Sorcerer's first playthrough by using Comestion just as it landed with 4 Demon's.

I NEVER let the Griffon or Cockatrice fly away on ANY of my characters.
On my Warrior, I just bashed in its stupid face with no trouble at all really.

So that's my very unhelpful advice, I guess.

Okay wetblanket. I realize that is an option, I say as much, but just becuase it is the one you would choose doesn't mean everyone else has to. I want to succeed at keeping them alive, for fun, becuase games are about fun not utalitarian efficiency.

That advice is unhelpful haha But I appreciate the thought.

Well, how about this?

If you're magic based, 4 Demons Comestion it.
If you're physical, 4 Conquerers... Deathly Arrow? Blast Arrows might do it.

You can still one hit it just the same at Bluemoon surely?

Edit: Wow. I came back to edit in about the Blast Arrows, but I accidentally pasted, and that bit about Blast Arrows was already on my clipboard. :E

Just take a few wakestones with you and Blast Arrows. You have to be very fast at start, so no one dies. Otherwise use a wakestone very fast. Let your pawns fight the enemies meanwhile.

When you arive at the half roundway outside, ressurect the soldier that dies scripted in front of you and than run to the others. At the second door Ser Westley will be graped and will be taken upon that gate. Use your Blast Arrows the do as much damage as possible. (Maybe even those Conqueror's Periapt, if you have some. Can be purchased at Fournival) Eventually Ser Westley will survive und jump down. Now run. Give your Healer the order to heal und talk to Westley to stop him from moving, so he can get healed. (i think you need to be hurt or your pawn won't heal you) At the roof, just take out your Blast arrows again and do as much damage as passible to bring that bird fast down.

That was mine strategy and after the 4. or 5. try i did it. Just make sure you use the Rift Stone outside the Bluemoon Tower to set a Checkpoint und save often after you did a section. Hope this helps you :)
