[Bug/Stuck] Chasing Shadows

Hi,

I have a huge problem at the very end of this quest : I followed blondie without being noticed until he turned in the street where the abandoned house is and then just... Disappear. The quest mark near the abandoned house doesn't trigger the cutscene I saw in a walkthrough video, no one is in the house and Madeleine is nowhere to be found. It's the second time I encountered this bug, last time I just created another character but now I wonder if I'm doing something wrong to get stuck like that...

What should I do ? :(

I'd say restart from the last checkpoint and try again. And check the wiki to see whether this is a known problem.

Yep, I tried a few times already but it didn't change anything. Nothing the wiki though a few topics on gamefaqs are talking about this issue

Alright, here are a couple of ideas I dug up.

I got stuck during that quest as well. Theres a part in the venery where he stops walking and the marker stays put. I found out that going around that specific building will cause the quest to continue. Sometimes it glitches like you walked too close when really its just the layout of the buildings I think. Hopefully it helps you guys.

Make sure you're not being seen.

The target can also see through buildings, so even if you are hiding behind a wall you cannot get within a certain distance if you want to complete the quest.

If you got the quest before you finish the Everfall quest, finish Everfall first and then do Chasing Shadows. When I did this, the cutscene triggered with no issues.

Yea, doing Everfall before Chasing Shadows is the only thing that I didn't try since I usually finish every available sidequest before going on with the main plot... I hoped that I could find a trick without going for character #3 but oh well... In any case, thank you :)

The Everfall quest doesn't close off any other quests, I think. It should be safe to do. I would suggest at least trying it before starting over.

I did, but with the Chasing Shadows active (i.e. literally during the quest), finishing the Lure of the Abyss quest failed the Chasing Shadows one... So character #3 is already making his way :p

You know, I didn't even know you could GET Chasing Shadows before Lure of the Abyss. I would suggest doing it first, next time. I've been following this. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=600969749

If you're talking about Lure of the Abyss it does close off Lost and Found upon completion and quests that continue off thie one.

try leaving the city then going back in... if it doesnt fail you for getting to far away...

Ok guys, finally done it, a little update for those who might run into the same problem someday :

- The first thing I did after the escort quest to Gran Soren was to go to the Pawn Guild and accept the quest "Lure of the Abyss".
- I took the "Chasing Shadows" quest from Mason and slept until nightfall right after.
- I went to the noble quarter to start the quest.
- I didn't move AT ALL until blondie "disappear" to trigger a cutscene.
- I waited around two minutes each time before following him.

Tbh, I don't know what I did so the quest would bug both times, it probably have something to do with doing every quest available before chasing shadows and/or "agressively" following blondie way too much.
