Quest cancelled: Is this BAD?
I noticed upon completion of a certain main story quest that one of my other quests I had presumed a simple side quest was cancelled.

I forget the quest names but it was the quest to find out where Quina had gone off to, I just completed the quest for the Gran Soren Pawn Guild to look inside The Everfall for the first time, and it cancelled right after I finished

So since this game only wants you to have the one character and save scumming isn't really a thing... how serious is having a quest cancelled? Does that mean I failed it and can't ever resolve it? How many quests in the game can be cancelled this way? I certainly don't want to miss out on content!

Looks like you'll have to wait till NG+ to find out... :P
Best to check a quest guide online to find out which are the missable quests :D

yeah this is quite bad because you lock yourself out of Witchwood (which has several interesting encounters). I would advise you to use DD's wiki Side Quest Progression page.

There are several quests which you can fail this way.

It's the games way of punishing those that press forward never looking back. I missed out on my first play too; had explored all the way out to bloodwater beach and was lvl 20+ fighter before talking to Mercedes and still missed it :( With the DA content they put a portcrystal in the area of witchwood you're locked out of...

This is called a Japanese Role Playing Game.

It has this thing called, Missables.

Kinda sucks I'll miss out on Witchwood but I am very attached my character and Main Pawn now so I'll press through and hope that doesn't hurt me too much in the long run.

Nah, I call it a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ pain in the ass. The game gives you no indication that you can fail a quest by doing other quest with no connection to that one. If you want to tell me that I "waste" time by not doing it right away, then it's even bigger BS as there is another quest that is time limited, but that one at least tells you that you only have a certain amount of time left.

It won't hurt in the long, you have a few options, start the game on hard mode or just play NG+.

How much content am I locked out of by not having Witchwood available? Should I seriously consider switching to Hard Mode and starting over or is it inconsequential gameplay-wise? I am okay missing some side quests but if it keeps me from getting some of the best gear, or fighting certain enemy types then that would really suck

The locked area of Witchwood is the only place you can get King Bay Leaves. This is only really important if you pick gear that requires these to be enhanced, though anything you wear/wield will be Dragon Forged when you defeat the Dragon, regardless of its enhancement level.

The chests there have some decent mid game gear that you could have found elsewhere. You'll also be locked off from getting Quina or Selene as your Beloved, along with their missions (3 or 4 each irc). There's a quick quest that will give you The Arisen's Bond that is started there. There's a respawning Metal Golem along with a quest (Mettle Against Metal) and it's one of the few places you can find those (there's at least one Notice Board quest to kill Metal Golems). There's the Portcrystal that was mentioned above.

It's not critical, but you do miss out on some useful stuff. Also, you should still have access to the first area of Witchwood, there's some chests with stuff and a lot of easy kills (wolves, spiders & goblins mostly).

Thank you for the details, it sounds like I'd want access to the area, so now it's just a choice of do I start over on Hard Mode (which I'm very unsure of) or just make new characters on Normal (I am rather attached to the ones I got now, but I could reverse them, make my main pawn my character, and my character my main pawn...)

If I knew then what I know now, and was at your level I'd start over. That's me though, and you have several options as stated.

Nooo!!!
But the side quest in the game are badly implemented due there are no journal to give me some clues about the side quest in the game.
Ecchi Games Jan 30, 2016 @ 6:26pm
I will keep an eye on potential missable sidequests in the future, I'm currently looking at ideas for new characters, but I am curious.

Is this the worst of the missable sidequests or are there others that significantly lock you out of content as well?
