I dropped a cypher quest or something, a guy lost a code book to some harpies. The real question is why would me solving a murder have anything to do with a book in a harpies nest??

It's a letter warning of the rebellion that happens after the trial. Obviously there's no point giving him the letter after the rebellion has already started, so the quest is unavailable.

Sounds like you're just not paying attention.

Ok you got me on that one with the logic, but with the rest of the quests???

Are you wanting the game to pinpoint and announce all quests that will become failed at a certain point on your map even if you haven't found the quests yet? Get out there an explore or use the wiki instead of crying.
Those caps made my eyes bleed.
Git Gud, noob

Lol OP must have not played through Dark Souls enough yet huh?

All I am going to say is :

If `Lost and Found` cancels its because you didnt listen to your Pawn yapping on about Quina all the way to Gran Soren

If all your sidequests failed once you went to see the Duke then Ser Maximillans stern warnings obviously fell on deaf ears.

Dont moan, swear and complain if you cant be bothered to use your eyes and ears in a RPG.

'nuff said.

To be fair, there are some instances when the game doesn't actually warn you (Floral Delivery and some quests after the trial are notable examples), but not much to do here other than note them for NG+.

That's a fair point - it's easy to miss some of the side quest lines.
Not to mention how you could miss an entire section of the Witchwood map if you didn't complete a certain early side quest before making it to the capital city and starting other quests....

To be fair, after a certain point of constant pawn yapping, people tend to tune them out for sake of their sanity...luckily, I tend to take on all side quests as soon as they're given or I probably would've missed doing Quina's quest before Gran Soren since it's not like they make it seem like it's an urgent need to find Quina right then and there or anything. It's more like your wife reminding you that the trash needs to be taken out in the kitchen eventually; eventually it should be done but it's not imperative you do it before a certain time.

It's Japanese RPG design for ya. They have always got a kick out of putting in stuff that's easily missable if you don't follow a strategy guide. I guess it's supposed to make you want to replay the game but...ain't nobody got time fo dat.
JustTooks Jan 26, 2016 @ 11:53pm
Other people have said it but the game gives you AMPLE warning 'oh any side quest you're currently doing will cancel once you go talk to the duke'.

Dude literally tells you it'll happen. Then again later. Then again later. The game constantly warns you 'yo, you sure you've done everything?' at atleast 4 points.

What's your arguement here, op?
MonkeyEmperor Jan 27, 2016 @ 12:07am
Your reply is asinine its an RPG we have certian expectations from our RPGS today. Its the dumbes fycking thing ever.

Because RPG design has gone back asswards and holds your hand for every bloody decision means that you should cry when you come face to face with an Actual proper RPG that doesn't?

Now that is asinine.

NG+
Use a wiki.
Diend Jan 27, 2016 @ 12:54am
It reminds me....
On NG+ with port crystals, gear and items you do all key quests in few hours.
Dont mind notice board xD well filter be nice (quest/notice board quest/complete).

Its weird desing yes.... but i say this:
Every RPG game needs to be same? I think DDDArisen get it right.

Of course i understand - for me good, for you bad.
