Devilfire Grove DragonForge Farm method doesn't work anymore

So that age old method of getting the Drake to 1 hp, then de-aggroing, then save right when he is in combat range, then killing him doesn't seem to be effective anymore in the PC version, at least thats how it seems like it for me. the RNG gods ♥♥♥♥ on me when im using this method. This brings me to this question.

1. Is the 15% chance determined before you first encounter the Drake? Because reloading to his 1 hp doesn't work anymore.

2.Does it work for anyone else?

I'm not familiar with save scumming, but I do know that if you get to far away from the dragon he will simply fly away. As for Dragon Forging the items are determine on chance based on what you are wearing at the time of defeat. So swapping armor and weapons about mid fight does nothing if you're not wearing them when the dragon goes down.

Haven't tried this yet, and I don't know how many times you tried it, but since the Dragonforging works off of a percentage, it's entirely possible you just have bad luck. To be honest, this doesn't sound like the sort of ""feature"" they'd bother fixing.

are you sure it dint fly away? because he does fly really far away when he gets hurt lol...

For me he never flies away, I'm aware of the time of defeat conditions for dragonforging, most of the items i want dragonforged are equipped at time of defeat and at least 1-2 stars already.

This would be my 30th reload :( will go to 100, if nothing by then I'll have to kill it the natural way haha

Savescumming from the checkpoint at the rest camp works. You still have to do the fight over every time, but still faster than killing and waiting another couple days... Even if it does end up short-changing the pawns you're with.

It's easier and faster to just farm the dark bishop, there's literally no need to farm dragonforge in the main game.

It still works, you just have a really low chance on any equipped item. You can also try rancid bait meat in the duskmoon tower to farm the cursed dragon cause he has a 75% chance to dragonforge maxed out gear.

Somehow the damn drake keeps flying away after getting slightly injured. Even when my group is standing right under it asking for a nice flame bath. So annoying.

ah really? i'd save it within sight of the Dragon and just run to him for maybe 2 sec then 1 hit kill him. I'll try to leave him at 1 hp and save in the rest camp. Hope he doesn't fly away.

I wouldn't waste time forging on fire dragon. If you have shadow dragon in BBI, you'd get almost guaranteed forges even with one star upgrade.

Your gear is upgraded right? IIRC if it's not the chance is based on how upgraded it already is starting at 0 with no upgrades.

The drake in Devilfire grove is just a regular drake, not a flame, frost or thunderwyrm.

At 1 star drakes have a 2% chance of dragon forging. At 2 stars it goes up all the way to 6%, at 3 its 18%. Compare that to the cursed dragon, that is 40, 55, 65 and 75% respectively.
You'd probably be better off farming offline Ur if the cursed dragon is too hard, he at least has 30% at 3-star.
