So yeah I was doing the hero archievement and one part of that is the Reynard questline. You basicly have to do many little things for him including buying a bunch of stuff from him.

Well after I finished the quest I got the archievement and I went to fight the dragon. I was sure I had Madeleine as my affected NPC since I gave her the Arisens Bond. Well the end scene made me cry tears of laughter when I saw that Reynard wants in my pants now.

Maxed affinity will give characters a pink aura in conversation. If you have multiple characters like this(Huge issue NG+ and beyond) the last maxed character talked to before doing the western watch mission will be taken.

Is there a way to lower the affinity towards people? Maybe slashing them in the face till they run away screaming? It sounds like a good way to friend-zone to me.

The game should have some stats menu showing you who is madly in love with you. Why didn't they think of that.

Best way to prevent it before the end is to go around to NPCs you have a high affection with, but who you don't want to appear, and either attack them, spend several minutes sheathing/unsheathing their weapons, or carrying them over to the aquiduct and tossing them down from the highest bridge. This will usually decrease their affection enough that they are below the threshold. You can, for the most part also do this while playing too, unless it's one of those characters that you need a high affection with for a quest.

Simply unsheath a weapon in front of them, sprint into them, or give them Liquid Effluvium from BitterBlack isle.

Just be careful with Liquid Effluvium. Only use it on characters who like you. If you drive a character's approval down too far, they won't talk to you, even if they are quest-givers.

Same thing just happened to me I gave the Arisens bond to Madeleine but I did Reynard's quest and he was the last maxed affinity I talked to so now he's the beloved.
Whelp just going to sacrifice him to the dragon, get the acheivement and restart my playthrough again this time with my old 360 save because I'm pissed.

Oh. Its worth noting that after you fight/finish off the dragon, a vendor in that first encampment puts something called the 'Secret if Metamorphesis' up to buy. Allows unlimited character creation editing from the main menu. So you dont 'have' to be gay if you dont want to be. Or you can go gay whenever you like.

First time playing through on the PS3 version, I had no idea about the affinity system. Turns out Caxton really liked it when I enhanced my staff. They're masterworks all indeed.

dang.. I got to this game late... I usually do not pursue romance in these things.. creeps me out.. I ended up with Mountebank... the Black Cat's fence. Now I am stuck with that for the post game stuff?

Its actually a bit convenient.. as he moved into my place with Selene.. one stop shopping!

Throwing the duchess downstairs and off bridges into the water worked during the quest in the duke's manse. No way I'm getting stuck with her again.
