Big glowing rocks? Cant mine?

ok so yes i did buy a pickaxe.

yes I have found certain types of rocks (in a wall) to mine; and of course yes I have mined them for materials.

But even from beginning of game I've seen larger rocks, white in color and it glows. Just recently I went hog wild and bought all farmer tools (hoe, etc) I approached a glowing big rock and still nothing.

Is it something that cant be touched until way way later in the game? What tool do I need?
