It's only one city. While I haven't played Witcher 3, I can say Gran Soren is a bit big though there are only a small number of merchants. And bringing up Witcher 3 again, the city in that may as well be bigger than that of Gran Soren.

Gran Soren is the city. Its big but not as big as witcher 3 Novigrad or whatever the city was. Not even half the size. Probably not even a quarter lol. And there arent a lot of shops or NPCs either.

No, the main big city in this game isn't 'big' but it'll still give you the feeling of being in a big city. IDK man, hope you'll still like it.

i played witcher 3 for like 5 hours maybe and quit, it failed to keep my interest

In all fairness Gran Soren used to be a LOT bigger. But it got rekt. Indeed, Gransys had lots of castles and presumably towns before the last dragon sat on them.

WItcher 3 had an amazing story and world but the combat was boring but not as bad as poeple say.

GTA V, well everyone should get that game.

I will say, NO, this game has no big cities like the Witcher 3, it has no giant land mass like Witcher 3, it has really outdated graphics and simple backgrounds unlike W3 and has a somewhat uninspired story as opposed to withcer 3 but it's more engaging then witcher 3 in a combat sense and in a personaliztion sense. The combat and pawn system is leeps and bounds better than the Witcher 3's and unlike witcher 3 you play as you want, not as Geralt.

They are different breeds. I'd say Witcher 3 is a story based/action game with heavy rpg elements - where as Dragon's Dogma is a punishing ligitimate RPG experience.

Not every game needs a huge open world, the best graphics or the world's greatest story to be fun. NO this game wont win any beauty awards and it's more punishing then the witcher but if your tired of rpg light (fallout 4 I am looking at you!) - TRY THIS GAME!!!
