Starting Town Carrot Trick
For those that never played the console version there is a nice trick to get yourself more gold at the start

Once you finish the intro/starting stuff go down into the village and find the shop run by the old woman north of the tavern, there buy as many carrots as you can (note leave yourself atleast 150 gold) then go down to the Tavern and sleep there 3 times (select rest till morning) the carrots in your inventory will turn MOLDY and now can be resold for 150 gold instead of 30. They did patch this in the console and it has carried over to PC that you can only get 99 carrots from the old woman but it is a good way to get yourself extra cash easilly from the get go

Or sell some of the OP DLC items you have from the start and have enough gold for the fist playthrough.

Yeah, sold the monocle 30 lvls ago, still have money left ahah
Combine that with quests that just dump gold on you... yeah, you probably won't ever run out.

Who knew moldy food could sell so well. If only it was like that in real life, i'd be rich if I sold what was in my refrigerator.

This.

Don't hesitate to do this, the monocole is not like the armors for a notable performance bump early on (levels 1-10/15 for the armors). At level 12 I sold all the DLC stuff (can't stand that jester hat anyway) as I wanted loot to be something to be a little more excited about. Hit the notice boards and load up on quests at every opportunity, and you'll have enough gold provided you're not a spendthrift. No need to dig into the console tricks of metagaming.:steamhappy:

I did 2 playthroughs then switched to hard. The amount of gold you get is silly. Harpies and wolves dropping 10k bags of gold.

Everyone drops 10k bags in hard mode (not just certain enemies). Even Sea Birds (sometimes droping 2, which is funny since those bags are much bigger than they are).
