How would you compare this to the original Risen?

If I could make a comparison...the open world exploration is similar to Risen 1, but the combat is in a league of its own. Just get on Youtube and watch some "Lets Play" vids and you'll get it.

just open Youtube and in first tab watch Dragons dogma

on the second tab watch risen..

Yes, they are fairly similar. I loved the first Risen.

The world is mostly open from start (main quest opens up more progressively), but not quite as open as Risen's. Combat is more refined in Dragon's Dogma, much more entertaining, I promise you. The world in DD is more exciting than Risen's. DD overall is more original and innovative than Risen.

To sum it up Dragon's Dogma is a significantly better game than Risen, although like I said I truly loved Risen.

I played it on PS3 and I bought the PC version by pre-order. I recommend you get it immediately!

Risen and Dragon's Dogma are very, very similar. There are some minor differences though. DD doesn't have chapters like Risen does. DD doesn't have an auto lock-on camera. And most importantly, the final boss of DD doesn't require you to use a special warhammer that you may or may not have trained the skills with in order to finish the game.
