So, the romance..... *possible spoilers*
Well, I've been digging around and I've seen some information where if you play as a male character, there's a 75% chance that you'll get gay romance and ther's a 25% chance that you'll get some sexy ass maiden. IS THIS TRUE!?

Those odds are wrong. It's based off your interactions (giving gifts iirc) with select NPCs. If you interact with them a lot and do their sidequests that'll raise the chances of them being you romantic partner.

Just don't make things weird with the blacksmith and you'll be fine. It's dependent on a few things, one of which being how often you talk to someone.

It's also dependent on which character that has max "Affection" for you that you talk to the most recently. i.e., if my beloved is Mercedes and the other is Peasant #426 and they both have max Affection, whomever I speak with most recently will be counted as my current Beloved.

*** Romance spoilers*** If you unwittingly talk to a male character often enough, and help them on quests, and you don't know that there is romance choice that will be made for you, then you can easily get a male-male romance ending. I thought the dwarf jester romance ending was hilarious trolling by Capcom.

I'm gonna be hesitant to talk to ANY NPC now, lol... except for the women.

It's 2016 gay marriage is legal, it's not like we'll judge you.

Yes, just follow your heart.

PS, your heart has a thing for midget jesters.

Even if you know the romance criteria, it can still be hard to get your preferred character to be with you at the end. Lenore can be tricky. They try to help you by adding a 'glow' to characters with high affinity. The first guy you help at the first village is the first quest line to follow and most people will do his quests to start, which can complicate the romance line.

You can get a special ring that when given to an NPC makes them your beloved for when that becomes relevant to the main story.

Here's the ring if anyone really needs to know ahead of time.

Reminder that Mercedes belongs to me.

the "Arisen's Bond" ring can drastically improve standing with any NPC as well.
