good luck.
I didn't understand much of the hype for DD2 until I went back to Dark Arisen
also, post game can be long or short depending on how much time you want to spend on it.
Edit: at the very least max out the vocation if you're going to switch.
Not quite... The stat growth lowers significantly at level 100 and up. (see the wiki:
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Stat_Growths
So leveling between 10 and 100 matters most.
Some augments at high level in a vocation are really good, but results vary depending on what you are trying to do. A lot of physical melee or physical types will go access the augments that give bonuses to strength when equipped but they are found at high rank in certain vocations.
I would say early on It's easy to get level 4 or maybe 5 but above that you can wait until later so you don't overfarm and get bored of it. Later on in the game story you can access easier farming methods to unlock vocation augments faster.
It's always good to grab the augment that reduce damage, especially physical damage until later. Strider is also a very fun class to keep with, but I would also sneak a few augments from different vocations between levels.
The question is, should you? Should you discover the lore, world, mechanics, culture, etc, of the original game for $5 so you can go into the second one an actual fan of the series, or should you go into it completely blind? Idk, should you?
Edit: Dragons Dogma 2 was revealed to not be a direct sequel, I believe, so...
