The biggest flaw of this game...
...is the RNG! Wahahah! xD
No, seriously, the biggest "flaw" if so we wish to call it, is that THERE ARE NO GOOD INCENTIVES TO START OVER A NEW GAME.
Why so?
Well...take my playthrough as example: I finished BBI 1 time (1st Daimon form) and I am currently in Post-Game. I love the gameplay, the sound, the presentation, the feeling...but at this point, there is nothing I really have to grind for, since the pieces of armor etc I like have been grinded out. So I would like to start a New Game and explore new classes. The point is, that I cannot give away all my grind hours so easily. If only I could keep the EQUIPPED items, then it would be OK, but lose EVERYTHING? Nope.
Another thing I would love, would be the possibility to start a NG+ and RESET my stats to lvl 1.
This would make my NG+ meaningfull, since I could try different builds without giving away all my items.
Alas, in my knowledgem this is not possible.
Maybe a Mod?

I dislike that there is no weighting/favouritism in the RNG for hybrid vocations. Makes getting the loot you want from chests in BBI a pain in the ass.

snip

he knows, hence why he brought it up

i.e; assassin should have it's own weighting in regards to BBI loot tables, not an even split of red/yellow, as it makes it a ♥♥♥♥♥ to get what you want unless you switch vocations beforehand

which i suppose is a nonissue
Each vocation should have had its own loot pool (on the 1st playthrough, I kept getting Magick Bowman's bands and Dragon's Glazes, while the party included 2 Striders only).

Or there could be fixed loot locations/bosses with 100% chance for specific set piece (i.e. Hood of Shadow being dropped by Elder Ogre in Rotwood Depository).

@OP Steam Family Sharing might help. You're starting a NG, while still can send some pre-Dragon/Dragon/Ur-Dragon stuff from the main account to the secondary.

What Microtransactions system that plagued the consoles? There were Optional DLC weapons with unique effects (Not all that powerful) and these were all included by default in the Dark Arisen expansion. Other than those and a few free downloadable packs for BBI (A Strider ring /Fighter ring & Mage ring ) again this was included in the PC Dark Arisen release. The only thing you could buy were some Rift Crystal packs (Which no one ever bought) You couldn't purchase Cursed items. I remember checking the store regularly for anything new but nothing ever got added in other than the Rift Crystal packs.

It seemed like they layed the ground work for a potential Microtransactions system then scrapped it to me.

As for BBI items if you tell me what specific items you're looking for I might be able to trade you them. (Via equipping them to your pawn, meaning you'd need to change your Pawns vocation to one that can equip the item you want sadly this means no Mage Knight or Magick Archer items can be traded)

I only mean the rift crystals that could be purchased. Otherwise I can't understand the need to add the purification mechanic of BBI. Sure, you could get enough crystals just by playing and your pawn being rented, but my guess is that they were betting on people not being patient enough to grind RC or not having a pawn that brought a consistent influx of RC. During my first playthrough I didn't even have enough RC to rebuild the rift stones that I needed, let alone purify all the cursed stuff I found, so I could have understood someone feeling the need to buy RC because of that. Why not allowing the gifting of purified BBI gear and weapons? Because that would allow players to help each other in bypassing the imposed RC economy.

But maybe I'm wrong and they genuinely believed this a was a fun mechanic rather than a possible way to make more money.

And thanks for the weapon offer, but again, isn't it impossible to gift/trade purified BBI weapons? If you give me another cursed BBI weapon I'm sure I'll get my fifth Dragon's Glaze instead of the Magick Bow I want lol.

While you can't gift them I'm pretty sure you can summon said players pawn and force them to equip the item. Then when you dismiss the pawn the item goes with it. However this would mean Hybrid class only items can't be sent since pawns can't be any of the Hybrid classes.
My assassin is lv 129 and in still using the bow that grigori gave me. And i've done my share of BBi runs ;-;.
Can't seem to find a bow upgrade for my assassin.

Unfortunately, you can not gift any "purified" BBI items (items, gear, armor, or weapons). You CAN however, gift the "unpurified versions", when releasing said pawns.

I do agree, that it would have been nice to have loot tables that fit the hybrid classes. However, that aside, I actually don't mind the RNG factor to DDDA. Since so many of these higher rated items from BBI, require rare or larger amounts of materials, for enhancing/forging, it gives me good reason to continue to hunt after more cursed BBI loot, and hit all those material dropping monsters.

But then, it's the loot and combat that keep me playing this game (originally played on both consoles, as well.)

As suggested by someone else, using the Family Sharing might be a good alternative for the OP's questions. He can even stock up on a few unpurified cursed loot, and start gifting armor/weapons that can be equipped by the alt pawn, and gifting upon release, some of the cursed loot.

There are at least 2 that are way better. Both in BBI

There is a bow called Dragon's Ire, that you can get from one of the Moonbeam Gem doors, located in the Duskmoon Tower. I would suggest looking through this link, for locations of specific (and guaranteed, I might add :) ) loot, behind the Moonbeam Gem doors.

http://dragonsdogma.wikia.com/wiki/Duskmoon_Tower

There is also a guaranteed long bow behind one of the doors as well, and a nice shield. They are considered lvl.2 weapons, on BBI. Once you start playing through Post-Daimon, the lvl.3 weapons will have a chance to show. There are some good spots for godsbaning for them, if interested, not to mention a few enemies that may drop them when killed.

The purification system in this game is horrendous. In my first playthrough I played an assassin, never got anything I could use, only several magick bows. Predictably, now that I'm playing a magick archer, I'm getting all the normal bows I wanted. Repeated useless loot is also a problem, I have so many Sovereign Mantles and Divine Embraces it's not even funny.

I hate that I cannot even give myself those things through a second account, to make it worth it. I really feel this is a leftover of the microtransaction system that plagued the console versions. Otherwise I cannot make sense of the fact that you cannot gift bitterblack weapons, and that you need to go through the extra step of purifying instead of just finding them in chests.

I started a new game from scratch because I never got what I wanted, and I was not going to waste my time grinding Daimon, but still, it is very irritating.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i had same problem and now i've quit the whole game because of it!! The wiki says, that if you play BBI in post game and finish it you will get a weapon 3 correspondig to the class you've finished it with. Furthermore, if you play with a Hyper vocation fx an assasin, you will either get a strider/Fighter weapon 3. The only thing i got through 5 playthroughs with an assassin is magic bows, staves for mages and sorcerers, neither swords, shields, bows, nor daggers....

You have to change both your and your pawn's vocation to yellow before purifying. Pretty sure there were some daggers and swords among these staves.

There is a very clear explanation on the wiki. You do need to change both your and your pawn's vocations.
This randomness and extremely low drop rate (by chests) really adds no value to game, but does add a significant layer of annoyance. I have resorted to godsbaning almost every chest in Everfall and BBI, but the time this wastes leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

It's like they went out of their way to spoil a great game with MMO style irritation in the end-game. Stupidity

My "solution" was to farm Daimon about 50 times. I would agree it is a bit MMOish.

I agree that its annoying. But its not only the end-game. The entire world, even pre-dragon, is littered with chests which CAN hold very nice stuff (for the level when you find it), but will mostly roll other things. Soulflyer Canyon and Bluemoon Tower are particularly notable areas, but there are chests with potentially very nice things in bandit camps and everywhere, really.

Though end game, and especially Everfall, maybe has the worst drop rates for good loot.
