Wyrm Hunt Quest : THE CYPHER problem

I've made it to the point where Josis a farmer told me to go to Black Cat.
I've seen a few videos that Mountebank in the Black Cat shop will help me decipher some words.
But right now, it doesn't trigger that dialogue.
He just said something about not wanting to trust the duke then offers me some items like a usual merchant.

Help pls

You're meant to talk to a farmer in the fields inside Gran Soren/City (low ground area) who will tell you to go to the Black Cat and then the Black Cat will talk to you. I agree that the quest isn't very clear on what to do/will tell you to go to the Black Cat prematurely.

If you just want to know what to do, you need to take the cipher stone that you should have on you, to the guy in the cave at Hillfigure Knoll (You can do this without talking to any NPC's).

You should have gotten an Ancient Slate when you accepted the quest, you need to bring that with you.

man, I feel stupid that I found out I stored it without realizing its use, thanks guys
