I am wearing the Barreled Helmet. But it's not the item. The effect remains even when I take the helmet off.

Great...well, at least it helps with night time reading.
Hello Mr. Hyneman! :)
I don't think it's the cloak. My pawn wears the same one and she doesn't "glow" at all.
I'm a big fan of Mythbusters (and pirate dogs)! ;)
I'm certain it's not the clothing or weaponry. I can rule out the lantern by now as well. I'll have to check the jewelry, though, although I don't think that I had changed any of those around recently. But I will try to unequip it all and see if that changes anything.
My game settings have remained the same since I started playing, so it can't be that. Your idea with the jewelry is something I have to test, although I never noticed any visual effects caused by jewelry in this game before.
Okay, mystery solved! You were right by the way: it is connected to clothing. More specifically the item called the "Hero's Surcoat".
Thanks for taking the time to help me out, gentlemen.
No worries, I think yours is an awesome picture!
As for pirate dogs; once they sense booty there is no holding them...it's not in their nature. But we can bark a mean shanty! :)
