best stats? oblivion, it's not even a contest
best looks? i dunno, use what you like. not like stats even matter at infinity.
Assault Boots, Golden King Belt (Tainted Mountain), Marshalls Bracers, Dragon Band?, Sovereign's Mantle; ETC ETC.
Dragon roar I think for head and 100str rings if you can.
Not really checked for asn but 6k str with warrior is doable.
If you do want resistances though oblivion lacks sleep resistance so brigadine jerkin + 70 sleep res on ring is needed for 100%.
Oblivion set is what you're looking for, hood that boosts strength when noticed, body that heals nearby pawns (since this effect multiplies for all pawns with similar effects and removes the necessity of any sort of healing), gloves that boost attributes, boots that extend duration of holds (or ignores wind if you're primarily bow focused). Fill in remaining parts based on what resistances you need and what looks good.
Having enchantments and consumables (liquid vim and periapts) last longer and being able to gouge for longer is far more useful than a few points of strength.
All true but 80 translates into almost 300str when buffed (not that that is all that much either) so if you are not having any problems with resistances or getting hit then may as well.
Also if you care about high str you won't have any pawns with you to heal.
Autonomy is only a 20% bonus... So you lose out on a large amount of extra damage from enchantments or pawns attacking/keeping things busy while you stab them, just for a small bonus to damage at the cost of an augment slot.
Totally subjective as to what is fun. You mention looks but to a min/maxer finding out the highest str possible may be more fun.
In many fights 20% increase in your own str/magick is worth a lot more damage then pawns can ever add as the fights are over before your pawns do anything of any value especially if you are playing asn.
All that said though I totally agree it is more fun bringing pawns along, trying out less efficient ways of playing and helping others to get RC.
OP asked for "best" though so giving the equipment with the best str is certainly one way to go and probably more helpful then looks or "fun" as both are completely subjective.
It is a bit like mmos where someone asks what the best class is only to get a reply "whatever you most enjoy". Kinda true but min/maxers will have a good idea what works best in different situations.
Also, There really is no need to use pawns, I only bring out my Sorc for Phantasms and the like.
Overall I believe that Maxing Strength out on the player is the most viable strategy for challenging and engaging encounters, We all know how easy this game is at 200, But it's much harder when a trio of living armors can 1 shot you but you can tear them apart in seconds too.
