How to attack a dragons heart?
I am using daggers and fighting dragons feels horrible. I cannot climb on their belly to slaughter the heart. I stand under the dragon, directly under its belly/heart. However, 98% of the time the character just jumps onto the legs, being completely useless. If I manage to climb on the belly the dragon is dead in less than 20 secs, I am just unable to do this reliably. Attacking the heart from the ground seems pointless as well, as the daggers have no vertical attack animation.

So, how do you manage to climb onto the belly?
Please no "use a bow", "use magic", "get some skillz" comments. I am looking for practical help for dagger/sword characters.

Wait between his front legs and jump when he brings his chest down

Use helm splitter or (depending on the "dragon") you can jump directly infront of it and grab either its chin or neck (since you have daggers you can double jump, making this easier) then crawl to the heart, i suggest augments like adhesion or arm-strength with gloves of might.

Hmm,You just need to grab it when the time is right that's all I can say I am also play Assassin but I don't have much problem hitting their hearts.

It's up to which dragon you are up against too.

For the belly part I don't hit them with grab hold I just spam Fullmoon slash which is very hurt to them or you can just knock it down with powder blast.

You can even hit it with dagger too I don't see any problem about hitting it directly instead of grab hold of its.

Which dragon? You can knock certain dragon's down and then hitting the heart is easy as you just stand next to it.

I know you said not to suggest ranged attacks however, I'd like to remind you that this is the same game where a magic archer literally cannot damage a metal golem. At least not without great difficulty and timing.

Some enemies are just easier with certain weapons and classes, and that's just the way it goes.

If you simply do not want to used ranged attacks, I'd suggest grabbing some pawns who can.

As for dragons, their hearts are easiest to hit once knocked out of the sky... so try to mount them as they go to jump into the air, or jump from a high ledge onto them, then wail on them till they fall.

Thousand kisses or whatever it's called is a useful dagger skill to use for this (can't remember the names of things exactly... last time I played this was on ps3, waiting to download now)

You should be TALLER~
... attack the chest from the ground from behind the front legs? I do it all the time for drakes.

While you're on the dragon, you can still move around to get into position. Smaller characters have an easier time moving around and positioning themselves, larger characters can hit drakes from a standing position. But it's mostly all about practice. The augment agility, gloves of might can help you move more quickly while clinging to things.

then crawl to the heart
I tried this but the navigation is terrible. Most of the time i cant even see my character because the camera is pointing somewhere else...

I know. Sometimes it works quite well, but when i fought the dragon in Conquerers Sanctuary it didnt work at all.

I like to shoot with the bow. But the damage is extremely low, compared to daggers. Shooting fivefold arrows without liquid vim drains far too much stamina.

My character is 1,75m. I dont think thats small?

I seem to hit the legs far to often this way.

Gonna find some more dragons and practice i guess. The first 3 were down in a few minutes, but the english speaking one in conquerors sanctuary nearly made me ragequit the game.

Be taller :D Works for me. Every time I see tiny little pawns I skip them, because I know they won't be able to reach anything.

The easiest way to get on its chest ,is to shoot it in the heart/head while its flying with a bow/spell?, Or Jump attack it in the tail with your warrior. it will fall to the ground on its side.

Instead of directly hitting it while its down, use that time to grab it where its easier and then adjust yourself as it gets up and or flys back up into the sky.

beat the sh*t out of it, rinse and repeat = dead dragon

I find the camera is the bigger opponent for me than the dragon. Seriously, Capcom, why?

I find it common to jump on the back of the dragon, or the neck, and shimmy to the heart, and then absolutely refuse to become unstuck while I spam Thousand Kisses on it. The easiest part is probably when it stands on it's hind legs and I can double jump and latch on just below the heart, and quickly move up and start stabbing away. The hardest seems to be coming from the legs for some reason, as your character will just start doing a circle around the thigh, or climb to the top of the back instead of the belly for some reason.

Some augments are basic to save stamina, avoid the monster shakes you off. climb faster, etc. Strider, Ranger, Assassin, level up those vocations to get some worthy augments.

The camera is a problem, yes... But it's made worse by the fact that directional control isn't consistent at all while climbing around. Logically, up should make you move forward, left to your character's left, right to your character's right, or atleast turn in those directions. However it doesn't do any of those things, and what it does do is often inconsistent.
