Drake Regen health bar.
So after 45 hours. I still can't bag the dragon. His health just keeps regenerating. It turns into an hour long battle. I want to just beat this game. It's a nightmare.

Drake health is regenerating?
Did you confuse Dragon's Dogma forum for Dark Souls forum?

In that case you may be misinterpreting what you see.
The large enemies have so much Health points that they are spread across multiple Health bars.
As you are dealing damage you clear one bar and start another - which is symbolized by 1 dot (under the bar) getting dimmed. These dots show how many additional Health bars the enemy has left - when all purple dots are blackened that means that the current Health bar is the last.

If your fight takes 1h then you are either underpowered or doing something wrong. Drake is perfectly doable at ~ level 20, provided you are well prepared. Which Vocation are we talking about?

Well. Im using the archer class. I just starting playing the game after 3 yrs . So , I don't even know what level I am. I don't think I'm underpowered. I can kill anything very fast. The dragon hits me full on. And I don't die. I don't know. Maybe I'm only level 15. I'll have to examine my stats.

Archer class, whether Strider or Ranger, has to rely on bow for creating openings (hitting the sparkling mouth or shooting the airborne Drake down) and then use climbing attacks (Hundred Kisses) on a heart - physical climbing attacks get climbing damage bonus.

The idea is that since the dragons are so tanky you only go to town with them when they are reeling helpless on the ground, and receive extra damage. So your skills should be focused on hitting hard rather than often, eg Mighty Bend for Strider, Deathly Arrow for a Ranger.

BTW The great opportunity for knocking down the Drake is when it has grabbed your Pawn and tries to possess it. Attack the palm of a supporting hand.

Your level matters less than your actual stats. Be sure you have at least 350-400 total Strength (less important for a Ranger). Ice enchantment on your weapons from a friendly caster will help too.

Recommended around lv 30+ cuz you might unlock all strong skill.
Periapt dmg boost item from Fornival merchant can straight cheese em.

Ranger: Great gamble from far
Strider: fracture dart
Magic archer: Shotgun blast the heart using Sixfold

Hunter's bow or pleach limb pretty strong enough

Wow I just looked at my stats. I'm level 46. W 1330 strength. I think I'm just fighting this thing wrong. I'm older and wear glasses. That doesn't help. I will change to some other class. And send this Drake back to hell.

If you're an archer, Blast Arrow and 4 Conqueror's Periapts will easily kill him.
In the end you will finish him off in the heart.

Well I just beat the dragon as a mage. Sucked. Took me an hour of casting ice spells. Not a Skyrim dragon at all.

I feel you on fighting the Drake early, they and other dragons are pretty tough. His life seemingly regenerating is likely due to the area where you face him, essentially his zone in it is easy for him to leave and if he flies off out of the actual area he will sometimes completely fly off which basically he will need to respawn and sometimes he will fly off and drop back into his lair field! Sometimes when that happens his life will be restored but it can also happen if the fight takes too long in-game time; then he will refresh.

I found them very hard to fight early and they regularly either devastated my pawns or turned them against me. I am glad you found a method that while slow worked out! I will have my pawn knock a pint back for you in the rift.

Make it two pints. And a pint fer u , yah. I killed a dragon. But I'm not sure it was the RIGHT Dragon. I've heard there's many? I like killing the trolls. There like big apes.

Emmm he had 1330 strength.. so killin a drake should be an easy task, unless hitting anything but heart
