What’s the best way of farming for skill rings and novelty level 2/3? (Pre-Daimon)

I’m playing strider atm. I wanted to know the best way of getting the splitter/stone ring. I also really want novelty level 2 / level 3’s because I like opportunism and adhesion a lot on climbing oriented classes.

I’ve heard of the master thief / gorecyclops method. But is there a better way pre-daimon? Without going too far into the dungeon? The wiki says the drop rate on the gear level 3 from the gorecyclops is 1/50. It seems kind of low.

Ps: currently level 47, haven’t beaten the base game on this char yet, I’m in post game. Haven’t started bbi technically, I’ve ran through a few rooms that’s all.

No, Master Thief is the best. Only inferior alternatives.
I mean, you can quite quickly farm BBI Novelty Lv. 3 cause it's a guaranteed drop from Midnight Helix chest, but for gear you'd have to exploit a ton of chests ...and leapworms ;)
BTW For skill rings it is best to purify BBI Gear Lv. 1

No, Master Thief is the best. Only inferior alternatives.
I mean, you can quite quickly farm BBI Novelty Lv. 3 cause it's a guaranteed drop from Midnight Helix chest, but for gear you'd have to exploit a ton of chests ...and leapworms ;)
BTW For skill rings it is best to purify BBI Gear Lv. 1

I really want the stone / splitter combo, it looks broken. Volley wouldn’t be bad either I guess if I got splitter with it. But eh...

You can get a daggerists band but not a strider’s band. Vocation specific drops only come from gear level 2 and 3’s.

Actually level 3’s drop any skill ring. You must have been purifying level 3’s.

Well, wiki also says that "Vocation specific" drops for Magick Archer come from Lv. 1 and Lv. 3 gear. I suppose ppl only reported getting it from these gears and so the wiki states it. Which doesn't mean it can't drop from Lv. 2 one.

I've never seen a Strider's Band with a double skill from a L1 Gear.

The double-skill bands don't come from L1 Gear, AFAIK. If what the OP wants is a combo Brainsplitter/Hailstorm Volley Strider band, then L1 Gear is not what they're looking for.

Not necessarily. I mean people write wiki, and people are not infallible. And yeah, wiki is/was incorrect on many things. But...

I am "people" too and I claim no right to call myself a purification expert. Maybe my memory is bad, maybe I did confused one band with the other, who knows. I didn't purify Lv.1 gear for a long time, and this small batch I had didn't give Strider's Band.

I think safest bet will be to trust wiki on this: these lists are weird and surely the author made his research on this if he claims what he claims.

BTW I tried farming Lv. 3 gear on Gorecyclops, and I strongly dissuade this approach. You are better of farming Lv. 2 gear at Vault of Defiled Truth.

Looking for splitter / stone actually but yeah. That’s what I was saying as well.

I just got like 23 novelty level 2’s, 21 novelty level 3’s but only 5 gear level 3’s from master thiefing the gorecyclops in midnight helix over the course of 1-2 hours.

Got all of the augments that I wanted also got predation but all I got from the gears was 2 magick archer’s bands, 2 daggerist’s bands and a ranger’s band. So yeah I think they meant the best way to get gears was level 3 gears because I didn’t get a single master ring out of 5 purifications. Then again, you can also get a lot other types of rings from level 3 gear.

Looks like I know what I’m doing on my warrior to get the arc of obliteration ring though. Definitely not this approach I’ll tell you that.
