Your main pawn is another character you create, that will be your companion, but is not playable.
You can hire 2 additional pawns that are other players main pawns, which will als accompy your.
Other player can hire your main pawn as their side pawn, just like you can hire theirs.
Getting your pawn hired is a good thing becaues he gets experience and knowledge.
He also won't vanish from the game if he gets hired.
Their main purpose is to serve the arisen in their quest to slay the dragon.
They aren't fully human right after they've been created, but they will learn from the arisen and adapt until they become fully human.
That's represented ingame by them learning about enemies you fight against and places you visit and quests you accomplish.
That can be really useful if you have hired a side pawn that already fought this enemy or visited this place in their own gameworld, because they can give you advice (like "it's weak against fire" or "the eye is it's weakspot").
You can also change their personality and behavior in taverns.
Make them more brash or rather shy.
Have them stay back in fights or have them attack enemies directly.
Focus on damaging enemies or defending allies.
Have them talk more or stay silent.
There are many more ways you can change your pawns personality.
I've personally grown really fond of my pawn :D
if you want your pawn to have the gear your arisen uses just change before you sleep (its when the pawn updates) and change right after back for yourself.
lore wise i dont spoil
other people only see the monika of your arisen, all others things online are pawn exclusive
