Save scum if necessary.
BTW If you are Post-Dragon right now you could simply take a quest In Aid of the Emerald King II from the BBI harbor notive board. The reward is this hat.
1. Purify as pure blue Vocation, Arisen and Main Pawn.
2. If you badly need it you can cheat the system by creating a checkpoint before obtaining the very first BBI Armor Lv.1. If you won't get Adept's Hat on 1st purification just load a checkpoint. Rip and tear, utill it's done.
2. There is a sepearate lists for each BBI Novleties Lv 1, Lv.2 and Lv.3, Gears, Armors aso, hardcoded into a game files. And technically you may get what you want on 1st try or on 100th. What you want to do is to create a permanent save (a checkpoint save) before your position on the list gets RNG-ed. And if you don't like what you got, you load.
3. It, your position at the purification list, is RNG-ed the moment you pick up the very first token of a given type. You can discard as many tokens as you like but you will still get what the list wants in the same order. It depends on the total amount of time that has passed since either you entered the BBI or started the game - hypotheses vary- and because it depends on a timer you can manipulate the list.
BTW The gear, armor and weapon lists have branches, sublits, the three colors of three basic Vocations. The purification results depend on the color of Arisen and Pawn Vocations. Just mind that you can technically have 3 color party and get items randomly drawn from 3 sublits. So,if you want to maximize a chance of getting an item from a Blue sublist, and Adept's Hat is blue sublist exclusive, you want to be pure blue.
