That said, for a L95, good armor and good tactical play will offset most of the benefit from the straight damage reduction of Bastion and/or Awareness anyway. IMO, these two augments benefit a lower-leveled character with lesser quality armor better.
Which goes to show just how subjective and individual good augment choices can be.
My favorite augments for fighter and warrior are these.
Fighter
Augment - Sinew(Ft)/Vehemence(Ft)/Clout(Wr)/Proficiency(Wr)/Apotropaism(Ma)/Awareness(So)
Warrior
Augment - Sinew(Ft)/Ferocity(Wr)/Temerity(Wr)/Clout(Wr)/Proficiency(Wr)/Acuity(so)
for melee classes, cos' almost all of them have skills with i-frames [Exodus Slash for Warrior, Dragon's Maw for Fighter, Full Moon Slash for other Sword weilding vocations].
MDEF however is an issue for Warrior, although I must say that Awareness only shines
in the main game...but on BBI - not so much, so I usually switch this augment slot for something more useful and rely on my reaction, cos' most of the time magic is pretty easy to avoid, when you see it coming
Also I want to add, that just as in the times of PS 3 release I still think that Sinew is NOT a must have skill, unless you're playing solo or with your main pawn only, so I tend to go for more offensive set-ups...but oh well
Therefore I say with my best weaselly and o so innocent smile that Sinew is indeed arguably an augment with benefits to offense.
I know. That's why I haven't said it's useless.
I just said it's not a must have skill, which I'm convinced is true.

If IMO there are augments that are more beneficial on Arisen
Oh well, to each his/her own
