lol ya, especially if they "spit goo on you" as the comment directly above you mentioned. I have to be really careful with fantasy games in general. I couldn't even finish Dark Messiah because even stepping into the entrance of the spider cave (before I even saw the spiders), I immediately felt physically ill. I also wasn't able to finish Fall Out New Vegas because of the giant insects (although I later found out there were mods which change them into pigs). I can handle Doom and the arachnotron perfectly fine, but it has no resemblance to reality for me. Even though it is grotesque looking, I think it's easier for me simply because it is half machine and there are no spider like characteristics other than it's form. Anyway, this can be a pretty big problem for me and I appreciate people being honest and respectful.

As a warning, there's a picture of a spider on the mod page. It has a big red cancel symbol over it but you can still kind of see it. Hope it helps :)
I'll let you in on a neat little thing here...
Putting aside that the spiders in the game only lurk in dark places so you might not even spot them before they're dead. They don't climb walls, they don't drop down on you, they just loiter in particular spots and spit goop... there are two factors that should make this a non-issue:
1. They're not a serious threat. I mean they attack, but the damage they do is so trivial and minor that you could theoretically ignore them entirely and not suffer any consequences for it. In fact, it just helps with the second point...
2. The primary appeal of this game is training your AI companion to do things. If you spot a spider, you can just take your hands off the controls, close your eyes, go away to your happy place and leave the pawns to kill them. The pawns will attack anything that attacks you, regardless of whether it does significant damage or not. They will protect you.
If you can handle that much, it should work out fine.
Ever since I went to South Africa when I was 16 and went back to my room one night, changed into my PJs, and was about to put a pear core in the bin.... except there was something by the bin... something large and vividly green.... and I went to get a closer look and it was a motherfŭckin praying mantis. And I just lost my sh!t. Was sure it was going to chop my toes off or something. I grabbed the air-freshener and just sprayed the sh!t out of the mantis with it until it toppled over with a layer of white frosting on it. I couldn't even sleep after that....
I'm not full on phobia level, but if I find a mantis in a game, I just have to destroy it. I cannot allow it to live.
Always found these to look awesome. As a kid who loved Pokémon, They reminded me of scyther and for good reasons.
I also suffer from extreme arachnophobia, to the point where i couldn't play
Skyrim without modding away all the frostspiders. But the spiders in this game
are basically tiny critters (think wow critters), and they don't trigger my phobia the least,
so you really should try the game, it's well worth it .
You'll hardly notice the critter-spiders.
