Targeting?

How do you switch targets. Just started playing and I'm at the scarecrow practice range. How do I attack the back line, I keep attacking what's in front of me instead of what I want to hit.

You cant use the auto target if there's something closer in the way of your aiming. Though you can switch to manual aiming by pressing MAJ after the aiming reticle for your spell appear (on keybad, on a gamepad I'm not sure which button it is). This will unlock the aiming reticle from targets and allow you to aim using your camera control.

Targeting as which vocation?
Mage? Switch to manual aiming mode while casting the spell,
Left Shift by deafult, or whatever it is on gamepad - the wiki says "Click left analog stick for manual aiming."
