2. Blessed Flower. Just cause some ppl have a boner for that one doen't mean it's essential. You will find a lot of confusing "gotta get asap" lists around the internet. Don't take them too seriously. The most important is to have a fun and the game will provide you with more than enough means to get that :)
3. For information on XP/stats/Resistances boosters visit the Dragon's Dogma FANDOM wiki. Search for periapts, charms and talismans.
The Wiki is great and all but you would already have to know what you are looking for if you don't intend to just read through everything on there. I am a completionist. I enjoy making the most out of my playthroughs. I understand that the sentiment many DD players share is "just enjoy the game, don't worry about anything, don't min/max". That's perfectly fine and I get this way of enjoying and uncovering mysteries and stumbling upon stuff. But I personally like to know some of what's good or not. I would count the blessed flower as quite beneficial for the experience since it would cut down on tedious grinding.
The game does fail to explain many of its mechanics in addition to that, which I think is one of the biggest contributing factors to why barely 30% of players made it to the duke. I still don't really know how Discipline gain is obtained. Some say amount of killed enemies, some say with the use of abilities. Yesterday I got a vication rank for completing a quest.
There is alot of bad information out there further making things confusing for Newcomers. So I prefer now to ask directly also hoping that future Newcomers stumble upon my dumb questions to have a better time. Again I don't seek hand holding like Assassins Creed style points of interests everywhere. Just asking for some good stuff to not miss out on.
It last only one day unless you use a glitch to preserve it. Prefer pilgrim charms or the bezel crown if you play as ranger (you dont need to fight ennemies with it, just use it for the last hit) especially if you plan on using great gamble as your killing move (damages dont depend on your weapon attack power, it depend on your stamina).
What you need to get first are throwblasts (and learn how to use them properly).
Periapts of all sort are also must have items. There's conqueror (boost strength), demon (boost magick atk), veteran (double exp), monk (cure and immunity to any debilitations), to cite the most usefull. For those boosting a stat (atk, defense, magic, etc), you can stack them 4 times for a whooping 80% boost.
Then it depends on your vocations (your arisen and your pawn) but if you plan on using magic users, the wyrmking ring is an important asset. Get a pair of them if both your arisen and pawn are magic users (will require2 playtroughs) and make sur to forge it and only give the copy to complete the quest.
The perseverance ring also is usefull untill you master all vocations (increase the amount of discipline points you get and works on pawn too). You can equip 2 at a time, so you need 4 of them.
Fastest way to get the 4 is to rush to BBi, grab the first moonbeam gem, grab the ring, then reset your game using hardmode switch and repeat untill you got your fill (4).
You can use that same trick to get 2 wyrmking rings at the same time (advance th emain quest untill you get the wyrmking ring quest, then go grab your perseverance ring in BBi).
Then there's rusted weapons. Hold onto them, once upgraded to 3 stars they get 2 very usefull debilitations, torpor and poison, making them invaluable for fighting BAMs (big azz monsters).
Special arrows (sleep, poison, etc...) are also very usefull assets once you know which ennemy is weak to which debilitation. Blast arrows used with the proper skill are just cheat mode. Maker's finger is simply "develloper console: kill all".
Ancient circlets that you can purchase at the black cat are very good pieces of gear because of their debilitation resistances once max upgraded.
Make sure to help Fournival when you'll get the quest for his trial.... if this NPC vanish from your game you'll be missing a lot. This guy sell the maker's fiingers, pilgrim charms and some other very usefull items. It can also get you a quest that reward a gold idol (to boost one merchant shop).
When you'll get a first idol, keep it for madeleine. Giving idol to merchants when they ask for it (this is a side quest) improve their merchandises. Madeleine will get barbed nails for sale, which is a VERY usefull accessory (boost your KD power, making it easier to KD ennemies, which is a tremendous damage boost).
If you want to make your pawn a support mage, you migh twant to purchase an immortal legion for it. This staff makes pawns immortals (they automatically revive when equipped with that weapon, unless they are hit byt something that directly send them to the rift).
I mean it's a no brainer: you enter a word in a search bar and here you go
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Discipline_Points
Again a BBi item that is hard to figure out by yourself: the luring incens. This item change the spawn in rotunda of dread and black abbey replacing random spawns by a specific sequence of very hard ennemies in big quantities.
Carry it only if you're confident and want to complete the challenge or just need to farm those specific ennemies to complete a quest or get their materials.
Many of the sidequests require you to go to far away places while escorting people. If you place Portcrystals down at Shadow Fort, Blue Moon Tower, and Bloodwater Beach, you're pretty much ensuring those sidequests are nothing but teleporting to your destination and getting free experience/money.
I also say Blue Moon tower, because you'll eventually have to go there, and if you've set down a Portcrystal ahead of time, it can save a pretty good chunk of time.
They are available at shops and are quite cheap.
When you come to a Healing Spring, you can fill the bottles with Spring Water.
One of the best (cheapest) healing items in the game.
The best thing is it does not only heal your own character but your entire party.
And then, it depends on the vocation, you want to play. There are two spots, you can reach realy early (at part, even before you reach gran soren) which can give you very nice weapons. Look at the wiki, where to find the "Frozen Tomorrow" Archistaff, (at one of the spots. You have to reach Gran soren for that, first, though.) and "scalding razors" or "edens warden" as dagger and sword on the other. (You have to save, before you loot the spots. The gaining is random.)
But there is plenty of information on the game here:
https://dragonsdogma.fandom.com/wiki/Dragon%27s_Dogma
Portcrystals are nice to have. (have at least one in your inventory or the inventory of your pawn. for a quick "travel-to-and-get-back-quick" operation. But it isn't realy important. On the contrary, it might even more worthwhile, to travel to your goals manually most of the time, because of the fighting you have to do. This will give you experience- and discipline-points every time.
Since you'll get an infinite usabel ferrystone, the normal ones also aren't important anymore.
With the monocle-gold, you might want to buy the legions might-staff at the black cat, if you plan to use your pawn as a mage. This will revive him/her automatically, if he/she is going down. This staff doesn't have much power, but a mage is more of a supporter. And for most of those spells, the magic stat doesn't matter anyway. (Only the damage of the spells are affected by the magic stat. Buffs and debuffs have a fixed power.) This staff is only useful for your pawn and only if he/she is a mage, however.
