How Important is Crafting?
TL;DR Will I miss out if I only collect bottles and oil?

Collecting all of these items is overwhelming for me to keep track of and to manage my encumbrance. I don't think it is fun to do so. As I play this game, I see that I have a good time just fighting and exploring with the pawns.

You need some of those items to upgrade your weapons and armor so they are pretty important. A lot of curatives are useful later on too for status effects/buffs.

Alright. I guess I will continue to collect and dump all of it into storage. Maybe I can make sense of it down the road. Thanks your your response.

Some items can be combined into more useful or rarer items. As stated by Senki, a lot of the materials are used to upgrade weapons. My advice is to have always at least 1 of each item. Items can be duplicated at Mountebank in Gran Soren. Some items are very rare or hard to come by.

Get the augments sinew and leg strength. Make your pawns carry stuff. Wear lighter gear.
Get an idea of what you want/need and learn what you can ignore. You pretty much never need skulls, for example, but you can make skeleton keys with shackles somehow.

+1 on sinew. It's from the Fighter Vocation.

If you don't like picking up items much, just rent a pawn with the aquisitor-inclination. Not a small one, and one with the sinew-attribute. Fighters work quite well, but striders/Rangers or even Sorcerers might also do. Although, they tend to have other inclinations and don't have the sinew-attribute on a regular basis. And striders tend to have a smaller stature, so they can't carry very much, especially without sinew.

Warriors are a worse choice, because, they have heavy equipement. You don't want that, if your goal is grind. .

I just rented a pawn, named "Schnitzel". He was mid-40 at that time. A fighter with sinew and aquisitor. He collected so much, this was a real comfort. And the combat wasn't bad either. Sadly, I forgot to make him one of my favorites. But perhaps I find him again anyway.

Sinew affects smaller/lighter character more. Total effect is still less than on a big/heavy character but you shouldn't discount the small fry ^_^.

There is also Leg Strength (helps big guys more) plus certain armor sets have the 'leg armor' with a bonus enhancement "Increases maximum item-carrying capacity".

My main pawn has both Sinew & the bonus enhancement. She carries more than most 'big' pawns I've met. Being small and light, she can go through that 'tunnel' and moves around a lot better while on large bosses (i.e. griffin, cyclops). Get all three augments on a linebacker pawn and you only need to visit the Inn once a week ^_^.

Acquisitor... hmm. If it gets high enough, they might give in to their greed at inconvenient moments. Mine has Utilitarian/Challenger/Scather but give her a pick and she'll grab all the ores she sees, without stopping to pick up trash.
