Bitterblack isle sucks? (heavy spoilers)
Hello, I love Dragos dogma, it is very good game. But I hate dark arisen DLC for several reasons:
.
Bitterblack isle has copypasted interiors all over and over again. Every place has same entrance and exit, its just littlebit adjusted. Only original place is bluemoon tower, daimon area and that other tower, everything else is lazy and boring.
.
Mobs are also copypasted. Strigoi are copied sucuby, there are those copie pasted wolves, undead scaled to be bigger but copy pasted non the less. Everything is just copypasted with increased stats to make it harder. Only satysfiing thing are those bosses as Dark bishop, gazer (who is copypasted eye of evil fight in everfall) and Daimon (if you would not be fighting him all over and over again) and Death which is the best boss I think, feels intimidating and adds amosphere, also gorecyclops is good. Bosses like those big hounds or older ogre WTF? Just increased stats to insanity and here you go, we can copypaste them into your face and spawn them atop of you. Or cursed dragons, they suck bad.
.
One of the reasons I love original dragons dogma are armors, game offers variety, you can customize your characters and give them a littlebit of personality, but not in dark arisen. Here you got these three insanely op armor sets, one for each color of class to match those insanely hyped up mob stats. This way, if you wanna be powerful anough to fight mobs, you must wear those awful armors, only one which looks good is warrior one in my opinion.
.
Whole bitterblack isle feels like mod for dragons dogma made by community instead of oficial dlc. Its just so copypasted and boring. You can start seeing this in everfall, from this point on game starts to feel rushed. Likely devs did not have enough time or resources, because they had spent it all on pre-grigori part of the game. Well I love that pre grigori part and I wish the whole game was done that way. :( After defeating daimon its worst, its just mindless grind and farming RC and bitterblack armor and weapons on daimon forever. Even Ur Dragon did not felt so bad and boring as this. I again dont know why. Maybe its just my opinion. Tell me what do you think about bitterblack isle.

Examples of magical stat hyping:
harpy/snow harpy/sucubus/strigoi
wolf/white wolf/hellhound/direwolf
stout undead/poison undead
zombie/giant undead
...

About the rushed Post-game and Everfall, yes, it was rushed, because originally there was supposed to be much more content between the death of Grigori and Everfall, we were even supposed to go to the moon, as you can see in this[dragonsdogma.wikia.com] picture. And Gransys was originally supposed to be bigger too[dragonsdogma.wikia.com]. Also there is this picture[dragonsdogma.wikia.com]. I would be also interested, that there is written that the Everfall was originally supposed to be endless tower shared between all worlds (our games), so if they didn't have planned any form of multiplayer here originally...

But I don't know how they made BitterBlack Isle, though I would be very interested in any information about development of BBI. But I personally think, that hey maybe copy pasted locations there, because they were focused on making hardest battles and enemies as possible, and not on the original and diverse locations.

Anyway I go to BitterBlack Isle if I am looking for more challenging battles, after enemies in original locations became too easy and I like the dark atmosphere there.

It's not only rushed, it's also heavily inspired by Dark Souls:
- there are lots of silent areas where only main map of Gransys had no music and only in plain areas during a day
- there are these copypasted talking corpses, mostly all over the first part
- there's a ton of backtracking...but hey, we got shortcuts ;)
- there's a Dark Souls' take on mimic wannabe
- there's scarcity of NPCs and lore shredded into pieces
- bugs, bugs, bugs
- and illogickal, retconning poor excuse for a plot

IOW The DLC feels second-rate. Now, I know DLCs aren't made by full dev teams with huge budget but Bitterblack is just Everfall to the power of three, plain laziness is required to do such stuff not rush. I mean, Capcom didin't even bother to create new icons for new items!

BTW Strigoi is a copypasted Gargoyle not Succubus. Succubus is, actually, a slightly modded Harpy and Siren is it's "hyped", reskinned version.

Dark Arisen is a slap in the face, everything that made Dragon's Dogma good is not present in the Dark Arisen DLC which is a shame. They took the worst and most annoying progression system in the DLC.
The DLC was literally done as proof the game could still sell content, of course it's copy pasta.

If it hadn't been done and sold almost 1:1 we wouldn't be talking about the sequel right now.
