But I don't know how they made BitterBlack Isle, though I would be very interested in any information about development of BBI. But I personally think, that hey maybe copy pasted locations there, because they were focused on making hardest battles and enemies as possible, and not on the original and diverse locations.
Anyway I go to BitterBlack Isle if I am looking for more challenging battles, after enemies in original locations became too easy and I like the dark atmosphere there.
- there are lots of silent areas where only main map of Gransys had no music and only in plain areas during a day
- there are these copypasted talking corpses, mostly all over the first part
- there's a ton of backtracking...but hey, we got shortcuts ;)
- there's a Dark Souls' take on mimic wannabe
- there's scarcity of NPCs and lore shredded into pieces
- bugs, bugs, bugs
- and illogickal, retconning poor excuse for a plot
IOW The DLC feels second-rate. Now, I know DLCs aren't made by full dev teams with huge budget but Bitterblack is just Everfall to the power of three, plain laziness is required to do such stuff not rush. I mean, Capcom didin't even bother to create new icons for new items!
BTW Strigoi is a copypasted Gargoyle not Succubus. Succubus is, actually, a slightly modded Harpy and Siren is it's "hyped", reskinned version.
If it hadn't been done and sold almost 1:1 we wouldn't be talking about the sequel right now.
